Buying An Airbrush. What Kind??
Decorating By thecreativeone4 Updated 9 Jul 2009 , 4:01am by wrightway777
I have been using a campbell airbrush (cheapie) for the last three years with much success. It was a little irritating because it didn't have the best coverage and it sputtered sometimes, but I made it work. It broke for the last time today so I am looking to upgrade. Anyone have any suggestions on one that I could get for around $100 or less that has the top feed cup and can attach to a normal aircompressor (one that screws onto the hose)?? I also need it pretty quickly!
Thanks for your help!
Have you tried going to Hobby Lobby? You may get lucky and find a top feed cup. Esp if you have a 40% off coupon from this past Sundays paper. I have an Iwata compressor with a Paasche airbrush (same as ACE of cakes uses) with Kroma Kolors it works great (not a top cup though).
I thought about Paasche.... My nearest Hobby Lobby is almost 2 hours away, but may be worth it considering the 40% off. Thanks for the suggestion! I'm sure I could make it just fine with the bottom feed
I often wonder if I could use this type of airbrush at hobby lobby. Thank you so much for the info. I have been wanting an airbrush system for years!

I'd call them ahead of time and ask them to tell you the different ones they have on hand. Then look each model up online so you have a good feel for the quality and price you want to pay. I would buy 2-3 glass bottles (bottom loading if thats what you end up getting) dont bother with the plastic. Glass is inert so it doesnt pass on chemicals like plastic does. That 40% off coupon will save you some serious $$.
In case anyone else is reading this it is imperative to wear a mask over your nose and mouth when airbrushing (any hardware store carries cheapy ones -you know the kind that your neighbor wears when he mows the grass in his white undershirt and tube socked sandles). had to get a laugh tonight. But seriously, you'll be coughing and "colorfully" blowing your nose for two days afterward if you dont.
