Hey all, it's on sale at AC moore this week for $100!! I think I might have to splurge!
I have found that the website for Hallmark Scrapbook will have the cheapest prices for all of the cartridges. Last Christmas, I bought 12 cartridges and only spent about $150 (qualified for free shipping )
If you watch that site, they will have several specials on the machines as well.
I purchased my expression machine off ebay for about $200 and it came with 2 cartridges. I had the baby (original) machine before that -- I bought that one at Sam's Club for $225 (but it came with 3 cartridges, 4 cutting mats, the tool kit and 4 extra blades).
you just have to be patient with the purchase ... when the timing is right -- you will know
Hope this isn't a stupid question, but how do you clean the blade after using it to cut gumpaste or fondant?
I have a Cricut, but haven't used it yet because I don't want to ruin the blade. Anyone?
I just got the Cricut Expression (craigs List) but I thought I couldn't use it for gumpaste unless I had the deepbut blade? Not the green one but the purplish/blue one.....I would love it if I could use it now without waiting for my blade.....thx
This may be a common sense question, but...
If I use the Cricut with gumpaste, can my sis use it for scrapbooking still? Just wondering if switching mediumns has an effect on the machine.
It can still be used for all you Scrapbooking needs! I would just use a different needle! It was built to last! LOL
Wow circuit seems to be a hit now a days, and this is kinda embarrassing What is a circuit anyway? Forgive me for being such a commoner

It's a Cricut (pronounced just like cricket, the bug) and it's a computerized system for cutting paper. Clever cake people have adapted it for use with cutting gumpaste and fondant. If you do a search on "Cricut" (not circuit), you will find a TON of reading about this wonderful tool. You can also go to www.cricut.com
i am also very intrigued by the cricut and spent last night reading about it. it sounds perfect for those of us whose fine motor skills aren't so fine.
what i haven't figured out is getting one for under $150.
i'm assuming that the $99 machines were bought on sale - please correct me if i'm wrong.

I used my edible image sheets with the green blade it had a good turn out the pink and brown bouquet cake in my photos.. So your not limited with just gumpaste...

Just FYI -- Plus a coupon in email for free shipping on any priced order!
I'm gonna be online at midnight Thursday night to get one of these!
Also, realize how out of the loop I've been and excited about getting this! I've been free-handing or either printing out and cutting pics apart for my cakes (i.e. Owls, Scooby, etc.). I'm gonna love it I know!
FYI- Walmart's Black Friday Sale includes a cricut expression for $199 and cartridges for $30.
polkadot - i'm betting you will love it!
i just got mine and it makes crisp, clean cut-outs.
i also love inkscape and scal - it is possible to create an endless number of designs without cartridges.
i think it will be good for cutting out gumpaste petals which will cut down the time it takes to make roses etc.
I have used my expession for a couple cakes. The last time the deep cut blade seemed to drag the paste around. So, I obviously haven't gotten it completely right yet. Can you PLEASE tell me what type paste you're having the best luck with? And what methods are working the best. Do larger things work out better?
Also, I feel dumb, but I have SCAL and inkscape and cannot seem to figure out how to get graphics from the internet saved so I can use them. I've watched dozens of you-tube tutiorials, but still, isn't working. Can some of you please give me your version of how to do that?
I would appreciate it so much. And in appreciation, I'm giving you a website where I find lots of good Cricut buys. Go to the Classifieds and put in cricut. It's www.ksl.com. Cricut comes from Utah and this is a Utah site. Seems to be quite a lot of turnover.

Sounds like I will!
Do you use Inkscape & scal with the cricut?

Can you tell me where/how to get the free shipping coupon??
Thanks!
WOOT! I found the email in my Deleted folder. I deleted the message without actually reading it.
One more thing, will it be 12am EST that the sale starts? I'm on the West Coast, so I would be happy if I could do my shopping at 9pm.
I'm answering my own question here. It's 12 midnight EST. I just got off the phone with the customer service people at Joann's. So I'll be shopping at 9pm PST.
Hope I don't fall asleep after all the turkey. I'm SO excited to be getting this machine!!!
You sound like me. I seldom read all those emails, but for some reason I decided to look over the sale items. Glad I did...I'm staying up to order one myself! but has to beat standing in line at Coach store for 3 hours starting at 11 PM on Thanksgiving night like I did a few years ago!
Ok, now I'm all excited about the possibility of a Cricut (just watch me be too late to get one ).
Anyways, I've been looking for cartridges on ebay, and there are some listed for $0.99 with FREE shipping. The auctions are also ending in a couple of hours, and only have 1 bid on them. Is there something I'm missing here??? This sounds way too good to be true.

hmm, sounds a little too good o be true, but I have gotten some unbelieveble deals before. I'm not saying anything against carts, I have a collection of th ones I just couldn't live without, but I highly reccomend anyone with a Cricut invest in SCAL, it is worth every penny and will open up every possibility to you, this site is wonderful for learning about it and how it works http://www.scrappingtable.com/
Ok here's my question and I hope someone can answer soon.
Should I get one of these smaller Cricuts to use just for cake & cookies. I have an E and no way I would buy another machine at cost, but $80 is a good price and then I wouldn't have to change anything on my E (or worry about crisco or anything, because I do use mine for scrapbooking)
Does anyone use the smaller one already?
