Help, I am new to cake decorating, and all of the online fondant recipes I have tried taste terrible, the store bought ones taste almost vinegary, but they roll and decorate nicely. The online recipes taste better, but always stick and never roll clean no matter how much conf. sugar or cornstarch I use....I am looking for a relatively easy fondant recipe that mixes well, colors well, and tastes good, almost as if it tastes like icing.... anyone out there who can help me will be appreciated....
Have you tried the following

or here's a chocolate version
http://www.delightful-cake-recipes.com/chocolate-fondant.html
I use MMF and add flavouring. Like vanilla or raspbery or even butter....Everyone I know or who have talked to after eating my cake all say it tastes good....
HTH!
Does anyone have a recipe for Chocolate MM Fondant? Please help!!! I can't find one anywhere Thanks!!

For chocolate mmf I melt some dark chocolate and voila! it darkens the fondant and tastes really good too.

Michelle Foster's Updated Fondant recipe ROCKS! Love it! Her book, The Sugar Fix (got it for my ipad for like 4 bucks not long ago) has many variations (lemon, ginger, chocolate plus more).
Everyone who has ever had one of my fondant cakes has told me the fondant was amazing! Even the fondant haters!! I use this MMF recipe (one I found here and tweaked a little):
1 (10 oz bag) + 1 cup of mini "jet puffed" marshmellows.
1/2 cup of crisco
1 tsp butter flavoring
1 tsp alomnd flavoring
1 tsp vanilla flavoring
2- 1/2 TB water
MIX WELL.
Microwave on medium for 1 minute. Stir well. Microwave in 10 second intervals until completely melted. Stir.
Slowly add powdered sugar (total almost 2 lbs.) 1 cup at a time. Mix with dusted hands.
Knead for about 2 minutes.
Place in large ziploc bag until ready to use.
I absolutely love the Satin Ice brand fondant. It is available online and in many cake supply stores. It rolls and shapes beautifully and is really yummy, too. I can never resist munching on the scraps. Several professionals use this brand as well - Cake Boss, Pink Cake Box to name a couple.
I had to brag a little (actually, its more like an encouragement for those who are looking for the best fondant).... I just finished a wedding cake consultation/tasting, the Bride had it in her mind that fondant was gross and would not be used on her cake... well... I convinced her to just try mine, if she didn't like it... not a problem... no fondant, BUT she tried it and absolutely LOVED IT!! I have used the Satin Ice in the past but was getting reviews from my clients that it had a bad aftertaste. That is when I decided to start making my own. Every cake with this fondant has had GREAT reviews! Its amazingly good and easy to work with.
*See my above post for the recipe.
For anyone interested.
This past weekend for the first time I added the Lorrane's pina colada flavor to the recipe of Michele Foster's fondant and it was a total hit!!! I even liked it and I totally dislike fondant so, I recommend it for sure!!
Good luck!
BooperBaker78, do you add all the crisco and flavorings to the marshmallows to melt together?
