Good Morning All,

I am posting a note to see if anyone can help guide me on the best place to take continuing cake decorating classes. I have completed all the Wilton classes available in my area. The Wilton classes were a great start, but I feel like I would like to take additonal classess from a different instructor. I understand that alot of cake decorating is about practice, practice and more practice, but would love to take additonal classes on gumpaste flowers, foundant sculpting, etc....

I live in Durham NC, so if there are any bakers in the area that teach, please let me know. Otherwise, I am willing to travel to wherever.

Sorry that I can't answer your question about where to take classes but Wilton offers kits that include instruction book and cutters for gumpaste flowers and a variety of fondant cutters with instructions. Also checkout the Wilton books - yearbooks and specifics (i.e. fondant, brownies, cupcakes, etc).
There are also some Wilton project classes that might be of help to you - My Little Cupcake, maybe.

I have a good forum friend who is a teacher in NC, but I'm not exactly sure where.

Also, Wilton is revamping its courses in 2010, so there may be additional courses you'd like to take.

Have you tried looking at any community colleges nearby? Sometimes they have classes you can take without having to enroll in their full program.

Try your cake supply stores!

Check with ICES organization..there are cake clubs through ICES that get together monthly, maybe they know if there is something around your area.

I don'tknow if you heard, but some one from NC contact to Sharon zambito, the one that have DVD to take clases with her in NC near from you, they are cheking for a place , and the one that is organizing that is Maria Campos. It will be nice to get the clases with her. Her dvd's are awesome.
