Hi, when you make the butterflies bend the top of the wire in a T shape and coat it with the gum paste, mark into three sections with a knife. The wire should then protrude from the centre of the body. Put two black flower stamens into the head for antennae if detail is required. make butterfly wings in whatever medium you prefer (rice paper coloured with food colouring is pretty and light but keep it fairly dryish, or even gum paste) and stick these to the body with sugar glue. The T bar prevents the butterfly from sliding down the wire. Allow butterflies to dry on crumpled foil or folded paper to keep wings in a natural flight position.
Hope this helps.
