I made a Ding Dong cake yesterday morning. I was so excited, because the first one was a huge hit, and my bigshot fancy schmany BIL was gonna be there, so I thought I would impress him with it. icon_rolleyes.gif

Well, everything was going well until I made the filling. After mixing, I noticed it just didn't look right. I kept saying that. I thought it was my imagination, so I started putting it in the cake. Again, it didn't look right. And then, I tasted it. OK, but very vanilla-y. And the texture was weird.

So I looked back at the recipe. icon_surprised.gif I put in 2 TABLEspoons of vanilla instead of 2 TEAspoons! YIKES! Great.... icon_rolleyes.gif

It tasted ok, everyone loved it, but when I cut into it, the filling oozed out. And after some of the cake was gone, the rest just...collapsed. What a disaster!!!

Luckily vanilla is one of the milder flavorings. icon_lol.gif Imagine say if you had mistakingly used 2 tablespoons of anise or something like that. BLECH!

Sorry to hear about the collapsing cake.
