Hi all...
I've been tasked with a teddy bear for the weekend. I found this pic and love it..
Can anyone give me their ideas on how to construct? I'm looking for the sizes for the body and head.. and the bottom legs/paws. I want it to use as much cake as possible with lminimal other elements like RKT if possible.
The arms and ears look like straight fondant to me.
Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions on carving?
Thanks in advance!

I would just bake 6-8 rounds depending on how tall you wanted it. If you are using 2 inch pans, that gets you 16 inches high with out any torting. Then, I would probably pick a cake round for the head to sit on. This determines the size of the neck. Stack your body cakes. Put the round on top and use it as a guide for your narrowest part of the neck and give the body a quick sculpting and crumb coating.
Now do the reverse. Use the round as the base for the head. Give the stack of cakes for the head a quick sculpt and crumb coat. When both are ready, cover with fondant, add detail, dowel body, and attach the head. Add sculpted arms and legs and voila.
Hi, I found this on Flikr.

HTH.
My bear is done, doesn't look exactly like the pic, but I'm pretty happy with it... thanks for all your suggestions! He was pretty fun to make and I'm now addicted to ganache under fondant... I've never gotten one this smooth before!
