I was asked to do this cake, but it needs to feed about 40 people. I know there are similar cakes out there, and the client is open to various options, but I wanted to get a general idea as to what some of you might charge b/c I want to be sure to not undercharge. My 1/2 sheetcakes start at $50 for a basic cake, 2 layers, so I'm thinking somewhere around $150? Too much? Too little?

Ok, this isn't a sheet cake so what you charge for a sheetcake is irrelevent.

My price for basic fondant work is 4.50/serving x 40 servings = $180. PLUS extra charge for NINE FIGURES ($10 each? $15? = an add'l $90? $135?). PLUS extra charge for the handle (and did I see correctly, that she made it out of wood with real dowels?) PLUS a charge for the letters on the front of the box.

I'm saying $225-$300 range.

OK, my first thought was $200, but then I thought that was too much. Man, I think I've been undercharging. Thank you, for your thoughts. icon_smile.gif
