Hi this is my first post, I'm new here, and making a cake on Tues for my husbands bday and a cake for my youngest (she's turning ONE) in a couple of weeks. Does anyone know if I can use my 10" springform pan for a regular cake mix--not cheesecake? Also will it hold two cake mixes? Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it icon_biggrin.gif

OH! one more thing---- do I need to grease the pan any different/different bake time?

Again, Thanks

Good Morning Susan,
Madisyn's theme is "Hugs and Stitches First Birthday Girl" you can see it at http://www.kidspartiesbylori.com/index_files/page0016.htm It has butterflies, ladybugs, and flowers. I have the Cake Decorating Beginners Guise by Wilton and there a cake in that, that has three round cakes and they're balloons, that was my plan, and using the bigger 10" pans instead (since we have a ton of people invited) but then with using the star type method over three round cakes will take some time. So now I'm thinking about going with the balloon shape and pucking stars, hearts, flowers, butterflies and ladybugs all over the three different balloon cakes.

I've done different cakes before since I also have a 10yr boy and 6yr old girl.....Times are changing and since I'm stay at home mom I have more time to have fun with whatever craft OR sewing project I'm doing.

Do you have any other ideas using her theme? Any help/ideas are highly appreciated icon_smile.gif

I always use springform pans with box mixes..
I coat it lightly with butter(or shortening) and flour and it comes out perfect each time

I think I'll be doing one balloon, pink, one purple and one either yellow or light teal--who knows I might just do the star method all over..I havent really decided....I planned on practicing on my husbands bday cake today, but I ordered the tips etc and they havent arrived yet, same with my gels icon_sad.gif so I'm still undecided at this point...I'll atleast bake the actual cake today maybe have to decorate it tomorrow if the stuff doesnt come today...Dang slow mail system!
