How do you price a carved cake? Do you charge for all the cake that is carved off? Or do you charge only the servings remaning in the cake?

For example, to make a car cake for 8 people, I am thinking on baking a cake for 12 people. How do I charge it?

Thanks.

Hi, you need to charge for all the cake you are making for that, even though you are carving. icon_smile.gif

I have this same problem ~ namely, will my carved cake be enough to serve the amount of people? You either need to charge for the full amount (say, 12 servings instead of icon_cool.gif, or, as I do, charge a higher rate for the carved cake. They are normally more labor intensive anyway, so why not charge more? I charge $2.50 for BC, $3.00 for fondant, and $4.00 for carved ~ this helps take care of the additional labor involved.

HTH!
