Hi, I am doing cupcakes for a wedding and I want to get some kind of edible image of the couple's monogram to affix to a fondant circle to put on top of each cupcake. I'm thinking I could get a sheet printed at the local bakery or somewhere online and attach to fondant. Is this the best way to do this? Anybody have any other ideas? Anybody ever have edible images printed and where was the best place to get them?
Thanks!
Laura
You could definitely go and get the image printed at your local bakery and then attach it to the fondant. It will look great! I've heard that Walmart does it for $5 a sheet. I would just call around and ask if they print edible images and how much they charge. Go with the best price.
On a side note, I have heard that edible printers aren't that much. I think $40 or so. (But I don't have one...I've just read that on here). They said the ink is where the expense comes in. You might want to check it out though if you are going to be getting a lot of them done. It might be more economical to invest for the long run.
Good luck!
there is a thread "did you know you could do this" on here about using rubber stamps. I would think that stamping may be a less expensive way to go. I have used the stamp method before for fondant embossed images on a cake. It worked good for me.
Yes, the expense is definately the ink. And unfortunately, edible ink tends to clog a lot so if the printer is not run almost every day, it is very difficult and messy to try and unclog the cartridges. It's definately worth the expense if you were going to use it every day.
