I borrowed my aunt's printer with edible ink to use for my son's birthday cake this weekend. I just printed the images, and the printer is out of red and yellow ink so the images did not come out well. Time is running out, and I'm desperate to have the images printed. If I called local bakeries in the morning, what is the likelihood that one could print the images for me?

I've thought about this before, and almost needed to do the same thing. My approach was going to be a little bit sneaky, though:

I was going to go to the supermarket direct with photo in hand, and ask to speak to the bakery manager or whomever was in charge, and explain that I would like to have an edible image made. I would have told them that the reason why I don't just buy a cake w/ EI is because the birthday boy/girl or party attendant(s) is/are diabetic or highly allergic (etc, etc) and thus I needed to make the cake from a very specific recipe, but would still like to put this (emphasis! ) very special photo on their cake.

Really, I don't see how they could say no..

where do you get ediable ink at??? Do you use just a regular printer..

I just paid 13.50 for a ediable print at a bakery here in mine town..

Walmart should, mine charges $5 a sheet

several of my local grocery stores do - for between $6-$8 per sheet. Just ask - they should sell it to you without any problem.

Melissa 2000 You do use a regular printer, but it must be bought for edible images only, epson is highly recommended and edible ink can be bought from kopycake go to their site for more info

The grocery store by me will do them and so will the local cake shop; however, if it's a copyrighted image you probably won't be able to find anyone that will do it for you. They aren't allowed to print those out and sell them to you.

Call ahead to the bakery, but be sure to go the same day if they say yes. My SIL called our local Wal-Mart one evening and asked about getting an image printed. The person who answered said that as long as the image wasn't copyrighted, no problem (it wasn't). So SIL goes to Wal-Mart the next morning, where the clerk says, "We don't do that unless you buy a cake". She was a little peeved, to say the least, and did not get her image printed.

Your local Sam's Club and Walmart will do them for you for about $5.00 a sheet.

My local Harvest Foods (gone out of business) would do them for me for $5 plus tax. I just called around to all the stores, until i found one that would do it and actually had a working sugar printer. A lot of times their sugar printers are not working, so make sure you get it a few days before you need it.

Hi everyone... New to the boards, Is there anyone in or around Orange County CA. willing to print an image and charge me for it. My local cake shop will not print a copyrighted image. My plan was to make a get well cake for my wife who recently had surgery. The idea I came up with was to make a can of campbell's soup with a couple of 6" inch stacks wrapped in fondant (red velvet) and the only thing I could think of was to get an edible image for the front with the classic campell's writing and insignia. Unless there are any ideas or suggestions? )

I have gonetoo local grocery store bakery and as long as the pic is not copywrited they are usually cool about it, but they charge a lot

So the printer that you use is just a reg. printer that you buy for your office and get at say wal-mart? You just have to use it soley for edible ink? Am I understanding this right? Cause sometimes you can find a printer for $30?
