LOL... You are all going to hate me after I tell you this... Remember a few months ago how I went to an auction and got a lot of stuff for a little bit of money?? Well, it's happened again!

Last thursday, One of the older bakeries in our area auctioned off all of their equipment, and I cut my vacation a day short just so I could attend... "To get only the necessities" LOL... I really wanted a Kopycake and an airbrush, as well as any cake magazines that they would have, since I collect older magazines about cakes... and maybe some recipes, since they had such a good reputation... Well. Ha. So much for that plan!

I ended up filling the entire body of my minivan, right up to the passenger seat! I bought just about every single cake pan in the building... for PENNIES... literally! I also bought solid cake boards with risers on the bottom and all ready to go... and a trash bag of cake pop tops and pics.... and in the garage, I bought two shelves because of the boards that they had... and Imagine my surprise, when we were cleaning out the top shelf and in the very back, found 8 boxes of vintage cake toppers, unopened, from the 50's or so. Plates, pillars, bags.... you name it. I mean, I must have bought about 100 or more cake pans, it's hard to say because they were all nested... square, heart, round, rectangles, bundt, etc.... 40 or more boards square, heart, oval, clover, hex, and some strange shape that's rectangular but has a round edge on one end... , buckets and boxes of stuff... and guess what the total was???

icon_evil.gif I'm not telling.

Well, I will, but only if you promise not to kill me for doing so!

MAN! I found this too late! There is an auction today about 60 miles away for a bankrupt grocery store. They are auctioning off a Hobart mixer, as well as coolers and refrigerated display cases. I have too many cakes today to go to that one! Oh, well, I bookmarked the site and I'll keep checking. Thanks, Cakenicing, for the great site!!

About 3 weeks ago I went to an auction and was able to get a Lang electric full size convection oven. They said it worked when they went to get it. But couldn't promise me anything. I got it for $125 and it works great! Take a look at the site DoubleTakeAucions.com I haven't bid on anything...Yet icon_lol.gif

I looked at auctionzip.com just out of curiosity (I don't have room for ANYTHING), and my favorite item for sale was:

Pork chops!

They advised you to bring a cooler!

I really lucked out! They were selling this strange homemade table when one of the guys said hey- I think there's something in there! They lifted the top and yanked out one cake pan! I said 'sell the contents seperate!' and paid $10 on it considered a 'blind lot!' cause we couldnt see it... SCORE! Filled with cake pans! It's insane how many I got! I had to work that night, so I went to my storage unit and dropped everything off... One of these days I have to get up there and inventory it all- I seriously have no solid idea of how many I got since they were all nested together!

I wish I would have bought more... I was really really trying to be a GOOD girl and buy only the 'essentials'... but I could have had a LOT more than what I got.. All in all I did behave, but it's a shame to know how much went to the scrap metal guys that were there!

it helps too, if you search under other terms. There's a place out here that does restaurant (sp) auctions and there's bigger equipment there... that's where I got most of my bigger pieces.
