I've used it and I like it a lot! I am planning to order more this week. WAAAAY better than wilton IMO, particularly on taste.

I think you should try it, I have heard a lot of good things about it from other decorators too! HTH! icon_smile.gif

Thank you! Have you ever used Satin Ice? If yes which one do you think is better?

I have used Satin Ice, but not FondX. Satin Ice was good, had a good flavor, but tends to be really soft.

No comparison. I even work for Wilton, but I would not use their fondant to cover any of my cakes. Fondx, Satin Ice and Penntinice have been my favorites, BUT Fonderiffic is even better than those! Awesome consistancy, tastes like buttercream and stays soft and pliable longer. Fonderiffic is my new favorite!

I use Fondx...way way better than Wilton. Taste and working with it. Rolls better and more pilable than Wilton. Does not take as much work. It is softer than Wilton. The taste is more like MMF to me. I don't add any extra flavorings to mine. Colors well too.

Wow so much great advice and help! Thanks so much everyone! I love the taste of the fondarific buttercream flavor too but it is way out of my league price wise. icon_cry.gif I think I am going to try the FondX and see what happens sounds like a lot of people like it!

Personally FondX is my favorite! To me, Satin Ice is ok at first when you are rolling it out and cover the cake, but gets too hard too quick.......I dont like that. I have even tried to knead in a little shortening with it, and it still gets really hard once it is on the cake. Because of this, I cover my cakes in FondX (which tastes better than Satin) and use Satin Ice to make decorations. I have been wanting to try Massa from Albert Uster Imports, but its much more expensive.

I think everyone has their own personal preference- so I'm sure you are going to get mixed reviews! Good Luck!

I have never worked with Rolled Buttercream. Is that anything like the fondant in taste and texture?

I have used the Chocolate Satin Ice and like it okay. Rolled out thin pretty quick. Since it is chocolate it taste okay as well.

I have tried satin ice gumpaste before and did not like it so Im kind of iffy about buying the fondant. I have a good feeling about FondX tho so I think Im going to buy the 10lb pail and maybe buy some wilton from the local wal mart just in case. Thanks everyone soooooo much!

I really love Fondx, I also like Satin Ice but haven't used it for quite a while, I will never put Wiltons fondant on a cake, it has a great texture but a horrible taste! JenniferMI uses Pettinice & swears by it, I would love to try it but it is also a little expensive for me. I always put a full layer of BC under my fondant & flavoring & chocolate to any fondant I use on a cake. I buy mine online.

FondX and Satin Ice are both generally softer than Wilton. Both taste much better than Wilton.

In order to improve the workability & to retain the great taste of either FondX or SI, I mix 1/3 Wilton with 2/3 SI or FondX. The product is easy to work with, tastes great, and doesn't harden too much or too fast.

SO I just got my FondX fondant yesterday and it does feel very soft. Right on the front of the container it says NOT to knead with powdered sugar. I have always used PS to knead and roll out my fondant! Anyone out there that uses FondX still use the PS to knead and roll?? PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!

No, you shouldn't roll it out on PS--it will only make it softer and drier.

I roll ALL fondants out on a piece of clear vinyl (bought in the fabric dept. of Wal-Mart) with a smear of crisco on it.

No powder mess in the kitchen or on the fondant.

I always knead some pwd. sugar or cornstarch into my Fondx to firm it up a bit, I don't use a lot but as I add flavoring to my Fondx I have to add pwd. sugar or it is far too soft, I never have a problem with it.

Personally, I use Fondx, Satin Ice and Fondarific. Depending on what cake I make, is how I choose the fondant.

When I use Satin Ice, because it is so soft, I mix in a little of Fondx or Fondarific to make it easier to work with. It only improves the the taste, so why not?

Hope I was of some help. I do recommend Fondx fondant. I use it more than I do any of it.

I have used Fondx and Satin Iceand Wilton, Fondx is better than both. Satin Ice has a good taste, but I think it is too soft. And Wilton does not taste good at all!!

I hate to say it, but I'm going to anyway. If you put Wilton fondant with any part to be eaten it will ruin the good fondant.

You cant use one rotten egg in an omelet and your omelet taste o.k. I would add corn starch or powdered sugar and not Wilton. All Wilton is good for is making characters to put on a cake. They should have a warning, "Not to be eaten" on the box. That is just my opinion.

Sorry if I offend any Wilton users, but my life motto is, "You get what you pay for".

Any way, good luck.

Honestly, I don't think you should mix Wilton Fondant in with Fondx at all. Also, I only use Fondx and I ALWAYS use powdered sugar when I'm rolling it out and I've NEVER had a problem with it being dry!!
