I used the NFSC that thin4life just mentioned. But the petals really did come out different sizes and thicknesses, some were not as pointy at the ends of the petals either. Like i said, you just need to bake up double what you need and then pick and choose the petals that fit better with each other and on which cookie. It's a hassle, but as you can see, well worth the effort.

When all else fails, like someone here mentioned, you can always cut the petals out of fondant instead of using cookies.

I've done the flower and the teddy bear.

They are in my photos.

I didn't use the bee with the flower one yet. I used an M&M for the center.

Looks like I am making cookies again today!!

I am going to try the NFSC recipe.

The talent that you ladies all have is amazing! Your cookies are beautiful!

Now I have to try again... and off to Michaels I go to purchase the bear cutter as well...hehehe

Good luck to you!! I used a piece of fondant for the centers (was actually looking for M&Ms but didn't have any) because a blob of RI spread and looked very messy.

Maybe this is my problem.

Are you ladies letting your butter soften or are you cutting it into the sugar?

I dont know what I am technically doing wrong!

I use margarine so it goes right in the mixer from the fridge.

I always take my butter out the night before I make the cookies so that it is at room tempature. Also I use less flour than the recipe calls for because you use some when you are rolling out the dough. I always have good results when doing it this way, this recipe has never failed me.

I use my butter straight from the fridge. I also begin rolling the dough as soon as I'm done mixing....no fridge time whatsoever. While the recipe I use isn't NFSC, it's almost identical except in smaller proportions. I love how little the cookies spread. And I've found that the chocolate version spreads even less, which seems impossible but true.
