I laughed and laughed and laughed when I saw yesterday's comics, because of this thread. At Ziggy, specifically.
"Today on Cooking with Cindy," the strip goes, "We'll teach you to prepare a meal from scratch! ...so first...plant some wheat!"
If a bride wants just flour, sugar and eggs, she can visit Aisle 9 at Walmart. If she wants a gorgeous wedding cake, she can visit me
LOL!! I love it!!
I'm sure most of you have seen this, but that poster's comment made me think of this that I saw the other day:
Not only would this bride have gotten what she ordered as per contract, I'd have shoved her face in that cake and smooshed it around real good ! WOW, how can people believe that they can behave like that?!
Ok, Bridezilla needs a good spanking, cause she's acting like a little girl. Then she needs to have the cake smacked in her face because you know that's what that poor lady wanted to do.
Even before I really got into cake decorating I knew that the georgeous cakes in magazines, tv shows, etc, were not baked the same day, it just wasn't possible and I knew that, even before I knew what really did go into most of them. I know now and I haven't even made anything really big, detailed ok, big, no.
As for the statement regarding a cake being covered with fondant HAS to be frozen.... Dang it, that's what's wrong. Not like all the wonderful people here keep telling me, keep trying, practice, find a recipe that works for me, don't give up, be patient. I'm just not freezing my cake.
Who let these people in? And can you please let them back out, their village called and want's their idiot back?
MOST of the advice in that Knot article was okay, it's the idiots who decide that they have to pipe in with their comments that get it wrong. It actually surprised me that the advice in the article was okay, by the way.)

It was a nice article and I was surprised as well!!

I saw this episode the other night. That bridezilla was out of control!!! She originally ordered a chocolate cake, then at the last minute changed her mind to vanilla. The cake she was tasting was vanilla and wanted her chocolate back. So she pretended that she never changed the chocolate to vanilla. Said on camera that she was going to do that, just to prove she could!
On a side note..........anyone see the episode of Cake Boss where the bride squirted colored icing on her cake cause she didn't like it?!?!?! It was either staged, or her mother was a very good customer of the bakery, because Buddy did a whole nother cake for her!!
That can't be for real can it? Do people really act that way? Are they staging these Bridezilla shows for more drama?
I would cancle her contract and call the police on her for what ever charge I can get her on, destruction of private property perhaps? I'm just in shock that a grown person would act that way, and what shocks me more is who in their right mind would want to legally bind themselves to her?
I'm sure most of you have seen this, but that poster's comment made me think of this that I saw the other day:
I wouldn't care if I never ever sold another cake, I would have had her arrested for vandalism. Let her spend her wedding day posting bond.

That is not serious is it? Totally cannot be true. Surely.

Nah..... you wanna talk about some staging? Now THAT was some staging. Bad acting too LOL
That Bridezilla is so lucky she didn't come to me because she would have gotten that cake that she smashed all up delivered right to her reception and not gotten another thing from me. It had to be fake because I can't imagine anybody standing there and letting someone treat them like that and then offer to make another cake for them. To quote Indydebi "that's what contracts are for" The change should have been in there and signed
Hahahahaha my boyfriend just asked why I was laughing so hard at the computer! That video is great. But yes I think it is staged. I know being gluten free I sometimes feel like throwing a tantrum in a restaurant when their answer to "is such and such gluten free" is "idunno" so I ask what is gluten free and the answer is "idunno.. salad?". BUT I would never! even when I get served the ar$e end of a iceberg lettuce and a slice of tomato.
People really should learn to take a breath and think before speaking. AND shop people should learn to stick up for their decorators/themselves etc. Customers are not always right
Nel.
I totally agree with everyone else that a lot of this stuff is staged to add more interest. Although.........I work for an airlines, and you would be shocked at the things people do any say, and their feelings of entitlement that just because they bought a ticket they can throw luggage at you, swear at you, spit at you, the list goes on and one, so nothing people do, surprises me any longer.
