Today I delivered a Baby shower cake. It was to sit on top of the Hidden Pillars, with cupcakes underneath. One of the legs cracked at the top where it was attached with hot glue. Had to revamp how the cake was to be set up. The second set of Hidden Pillars worked. I don't remember these pillars being so thin, they remind me of straws. These things use to be thicker or is just me? Won't use them again, I will use Coast or SPS, both are great products. Has Anyone Had this Problem?

I have used the hidden pillars many times with no problems.You mentioned they were thin like straws....the ones I use are quite fat and have bumpy scallops around the outside.The wilton plates clip right in....Or are you talking the narrow clear ones that poke down into the cake...I have never used those..they look flimsy!

I used the Wilton hidden pillars, the white scallopy ones, last weekend with great success on a 4 tier wedding cake. It was my first time, and I loved them.

I also use the white hidden pillars. Mine have never been thin. They are white and thick. Perhaps you bought a bad bag or you are talking about something different from what I use. There are several different types on the market.

The ones I have would be difficult to crack. It takes some effort just to cut them. I have been using my very own PVC pipe cutter to make it easier.

I hope you find something that will work for you. It will make caking more fun with less stress.

I've always used the Wilton pillars....round tubed ones with ridges..that fit onto the plate....I will sometime wrap the top with white electrical tape for extra strength....those little pencil ones are the pits....don't use them..
