I would like to make a simple cake for Labor Day. We are having a cook out and just getting together with family we haven't seen in awhile.

Any suggestions? All are welcome.

Thank you.

I think I got it...
what about a hamburger cake with a hotdog cake??
(I saw the ideas from the food contest)

But I don't need alot of cake? I could make them smaller.

Anyone know how to do a hotdog cake? or the hamburger?

I did a gel transfer then filled it in ... I reversed the picture, put the wax paper over it, traced in piping gel, then applied to the cake .. I outlined and filled in .. wasn't hard to do .. I'm sure you could do a BCT too, which probably wouldn't be hard to do at all icon_smile.gif

I did a very simple cake for Memorial Day. Two 9 inch rounds (white). Center filled with rasberry filling with white bc icing. Used Wilton nesting stars and did imprints all over the cake and filled imprints with red and blue using a star tip. Very easy and quick so I had time to spend with my family and friends.

I am making a jelly roll (brazo de gitano) and fill it with guava jelly.

I am going to keep it simple and sprinkle powdered sugar on top...

I may get a flag and put it on top icon_biggrin.gif

But I am keeping the cake simple, eventhough making a sponge is a little involved.
