Looking For Some Creative Kids Cake Flavors...

I do a lot of kids cakes, and I am looking for some creative cake flavors that would be appealing to kids.
Think of snowball flavors like grape, watermelon, green apple, etc....
Any ideas...tried and true or otherwise?
TIA
my experience is vanilla or chocolate. you might get more interesting icing, but kids just cant get their heads round cake that doesnt taste like cake to them.
xx
I think just like vanilla cake with a ton of sprinkles thrown in (confetti cake!) or mini chocolate chips or even funky shaped sprinkles like dinosaurs or flowers (never tried those to see if they keep their shapes?).
Sometimes too just vanilla cake dyed to match the design is fun for kids...one time I did a Monster's Inc cake (Mike) and made green dyed cake for the inside. They thought it was cool.
I offer, black cherry, blue raspberry, strawberry, orange, lemon, lime (while I know straw.lemon.lime.orange are not THAT out of the ordinary, they're SUPER bright in color and are a favorite of kids)
Sky is the limit......take your regular white cake batter and add a box of jello to it.....any flavor you'd like......they do have grape, cherry, black cherry, blue raspberry, lemon, lime, orange, watermelon, and wouldn't you know Green Apple

You can also check the pharmacy section of your local drug store, they always sell the Lorann flavored oils, they have bubblegum flavored too! Add one capful to each batch of cake batter (white cake works the best since it's flavor is neutral)
Doesn't the Jello give it a rubbery texture? Do you just put it a small box in dry, or pour it over like a poke cake?
You might want to check out some of the orange creamsicle recipes on this site. I tried one out for my twin daughters' birthday, and it was a huge hit. Actually, I used a combination of a fewdifferent recipes. The cake used melted orange sherbert and the filling used cool whip, condensed sweetened milk and orange flavoring. For summer, it's a great flavor.
Another of my girls' favorites is banana cake w/chocolate filling, or chocolate cake with banana filling.
I'm a little late, but I just did a chocolate ake with mint icing and the kids flipped out over it! I made buttercream with all shortening, no butter, then added creme de menth to give it a cool green color and yummy mint flavor, they thought it tasted like mint oreo cookies. I thought it was good, and I don't like cake too much...
A wacky flavor I give to kids is 1 part orange juice and two parts grape. It's just a flavor they like. Never made it in a cake, but I would try it for the kids.
oh darn, i was gonna say macsmom "rainbowliscous" but laneysmom beat me to it! check out macsmom's photo for a really neat photo of the interior of her cake.
IMO, kids love different flavors, the weirder the better. look for snocone syrups as an add-in to the liquid part of the mix. for my 16th birthday, i had a half pina colada/ half chocolate cake. it was so yummy! now days, kids lovce the sour flavors, so maybe a strawberry cake with a sour strawberry frosting on top. something along those lines maybe. hope this helps!
I did a chocolate with peanut butter and they claim it tasted like reese cup! ( It was the Scarface cake), but I would have did it a different now that I had time to over think it.
Doesn't the Jello give it a rubbery texture? Do you just put it a small box in dry, or pour it over like a poke cake?
Just put a small box of the dry powder into your cake batter when mixing it......it doesn't make it rubbery at all.....it does thicken the batter some the way pudding does, but it makes it VERY moist in the end much like a box of pudding would!
Thank you, I shall try that. They have such nice new flavors.
I've always liked Jello anyway, it's so cheerful.
Lorann oil come in soo many flavors! Bubblegum, cotton candy, saltwater taffy... I think icing would be a cool place for flavors like these on a fruity flavored cake. Kind of like a Blo pop lolli pop with bubblegum in the middle.
Doesn't Lorann make a bubble gum flavored oil? What do y'all think that could be paired with?
