Ok cookie experts. I am making cookies with Royal Icing. What is the trick to get those dimples? Thanks.

The trick is to use fondant instead. icon_wink.gif

Yep. Use fondant. And to get those dimples, I use legos.

Ok mine doesn't have "dimples", but I made the look with gray dots. I have a picture of golf theme cookies in my album. HTH

Well you could do my "mistake" method.

Flood your background, then go back and make dots with a slightly thicker consistency icing while still wet.

If you look at the pics in my gallery it's the onsie with the pink dots!

Because the dot icing was a tad bit thicker and heavier, it sank and left "dimples".

Hope this helps

here's a picture of how the Lego effect looks. Not a great pic (cameraphone), but hopefully it will give you the idea of how it looks.

Rose - that is so cool! I'm not sure I understand, though...
You flooded the cookie as normal, them used a slightly thicker consistency to do dots right away, right? And it left indentations? WOW! I've got to try that!

I haven't done Golf Ball COOKIES... but once I flooded a COOKIE and then put on some dots while the icing was still wet so that it will go flat... you know that nice polka dot effect... but I used a thicker consistency for the dots and the icing sunk (sp?) causing dimples on my COOKIES... I wasn't thrilled with the result (that time I wanted flat COOKIES) but thought it would serve for a different effect...

so you might try and see if it works icon_smile.gif
