Just look online for "snowball cookies" or "Mexican Wedding cakes".... they are all about the same, very simple as far as ingredients go.

Russian Tea Cakes are simular to Archways Wedding cakes . Is that what your looking for,if so recipe is in the recipe section . I use pecans instead of walnuts. Make these all the time for xmas, and eveyone loves them.

This is what I had in mind for tea cakes. sometimes they even have a little nutmeg in them. It's more of a puffy, cakelike cookie, probably derived from using what you have to make something sweet.

Southern Tea Cakes

Ingredients:
4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoon baking powder
2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 lb (2 sticks) butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl sift flour, baking soda, and baking powder together. Add remaining ingredients and blend well. Dough should be soft. Roll dough out onto a floured surface until approximately 1/4 inch thick. Cut dough into desired shapes and bake on a slightly greased sheet for 10 to 12 minutes.

Yield: 6 to 8 dozen
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Ease of Preparation: Easy

Thanks for the recipe DeeDelightful! This is the tea cake I remember from childhood. My Great Aunt Leila made these with a touch of cake spice. I'll try this to see if they turn out like hers. icon_biggrin.gif
