I like it. I think it's interesting. It was kind of weird with the mafia guys though. And the grooms were not happy with the 1st cake the guy delivered. They were like, "go back and get our cake". Hahaha. I would have said the same thing.

And the bride with the piping bag, oh man, I can't wait to see what that's about next week!

the only thing i like about the show is the lessons i learn on how to do certain things. the drama...i could do without it. the yelling turns me off. i watch the show because of the techniques being shown, and definitely not for the drama!

I love the show... every minute of it. I'm from a big, loud, Italian family in north Jersey, so all the yelling and interaction between family members seems normal to me (the show gives me the warm fuzzies, really). I'm friends with a family that owns another very large, well-known north Jersey Italian bakery and I spent a lot of time there in high school, and honestly that's what this show reminds me of... the craziness. the drama, the family members mouthing off... I love it... every minute of it!

I watched it for the first time last night. I could definitely do without all the yelling, gives me a headache. But like a previous poster said, I like the few things I learned. One being using the steamer on black fondant to make it shiny. I am still a fondant virgin so that was a nice trick to tuck into my notes.

OK... waited long enough to respond. I love Cake Boss! And yes Buddy has been over the top on the Food Network... He is the first one on challenge that I can remember who stood up to Kerry Vincent during his critique. Do not like her much. Yes I agree Italian families truly are loud like that but in the end they squash have dinner and wine then move on. Besides with all those sisters he has to be that way... dont you think?

Quickly... Amazing Wedding Cakes... love Mary & Brenda true artist. Glad the New York Lady went into business for self. Her former partner was a bit much. Loved new CA business that rose cake rocked.

Duff & crew are funny but some of their sculpting as far as when they are doing people is a bit odd looking. Luving anything cake :0)

I'm wondering if next weeks "Bride" was set up by one of Buddy's sisters or one of the guys as a prank on Buddy??? I don't know, but I can't wait!!!

That would be funny if his sisters pulled a prank...but quite expensive eh? I don't think every viewer is crazy about cake decorating as we are, and so they need some drama etc to get as big an audience possible........besides...when people are yelling or fighting always a crowd forms to watch....if we are honest hahaha

I love the show, the yelling is funny to me, not annoying. Very true to life of a big Italian family under stress in a fast-paced business environment. Even my husband wanted to watch the second episode that was rerun after the new one...I was going to bed and told him he could change the channel, and he said "I think I'll watch this, this guy is pretty funny."

I love this show. I actually prefer it over Duff's. My favorite, I think, is "Amazing Wedding Cakes". It focuses more on the cakes than either of the other 2.

I do get a good laugh every now and then and Buddy does make great looking cakes but the yelling is too much for me. I feel really sad for "Stretch". Hope he's getting paid well for being made a fool of! The show where the fondant slid off of the cake while he was delivering was definitely not his fault. Wish somehow I could get in touch with him and make him feel better about that incident. Makes me wonder if the misplaced order slips and the right place/wrong cake thing was a set up cause they know they can "use" him for the drama. The bunny was WEIRD and the brown water... who in their right mind would use brown water to bake with?? Yuck! If I were a customer of his and saw this episode I would think twice about where to purchase my next cake. Who knows what else goes on in that kitchen when the cameras are off!

In the New York area--and probably many other places with a municipal water supply--when the water company flushes the fire hydrants to clean them out, the water coming through the water pipes is discolored. It won't kill you! They let you know ahead of time so you can plan accordingly. It's really no big deal, unless you forget (like I did last week) and wash a load of white clothes at the time.

I could never in good conscience use brown water to bake with even if it "won't kill you"!! The brown color is from stirred up sediment. Gross! I'm just sayin'..... (Not here to "stir things up") icon_lol.gif Also, I realize that it wasn't Buddy who used that brown water. He learned that his baker was using it and then he threw out whatever was baked with it. But what if he never got word of it? Gotta say though, the episode where they made the cake for his dad and the way he treats his "ma" like gold just makes me want to hug him! He really does seem like a sweet guy when he's not yelling. And that roulette table...SO cool. I would love to know what he charged for that one! So much work and artistry.

LOL... Those guys really were mafia-ish. I was LMAO when he delivered that cake. Thought Buddy was going to pee his pants. Do those guys REALLY still exist? I'm so naive.

Yes, they do exist... the Sopranos may have been fiction, but a lot of the characters and situations were based on/inspired by actual people and events in NY/NJ organized crime. I doubt those guys were big-time mafioso--just small change--but those types of "social clubs" (like they delivered the cake to) are common in heavily Italian-populated areas of north Jersey (Hoboken. Newark, etc), and people who are "connected" in some way might spend a lot of time there or have business with people there. The so-called "boss" in that episode may have been a local (Hoboken) bigshot, but he's not like the Godfather or anything lol

I love the show. Once you have such a big family Italian or otherwise, you are going to get yelling. They are working in a very busy bakery. What do you expect. What I really like about the show you get to see what they are doing and you can pick up a thing or two. With Duff the things he shows are not for your everyday baker.

The brown water - once you live in a big city that happens from time to time. As someone said before they inform you or sometimes there is a main break and there is nothing you can do about it.

I guess being a New Yorker the Jersey accent is not annoying to me.

These are real people. Whenever I need a cake on the fly, I go to Carlo's bakery. They are the nicest people. they have always worked with me. Even at the last minute.
Just afraid that now that they are stars, I can't get in the door

I love watching the show, I like it better then Ace, Duff's crew grosses me out a lot, with always having hands on face, hair, ect....I worked in fast food, big no no, and if these customers are watching, how would they like to see that! Yuck! Brown water, stuff like that happens, you throw it out, fix it (buying bottled water) & move on.

I love watching his family, makes me miss my friend so much more, he's Italian living in NY, and he moved away about a yr ago, and his family is just the same if not worse, but when it comes down to it, they love each other, they just love each other loudly!

Ok so the show is funny, the cakes are great, but I would be a freaking stressed out mess working there !!! UGH, Way too much yelling and blaming and finger pointing.
I prefer Duff's shop in that aspect but I agree about the face touching thing... I always wonder about that too. Wash hands more girls !

I love the cakes, his attitude is not great( he was like that on who's wedding is it anyway?) his family gets annoying..
and yes it looks so set up and staged.

Staged... Ace of Cakes isn't? Amazing Wedding Cakes isn't? Jon and Kate Plus Eight isn't? Whose reality show isn't "staged" these days? It's all about the ratings...

My husband actually sits and watches Buddy's show... says it's nice to see "real cake" being created not gum paste stuck on foam board being called "cake." (Guess he tunes into more Duff than I thought.)

I love the show, love Buddy, love his big, loud family and can totally relate to the whole "Italian" thing. If you are lucky enough in life to know an Italian, or be an Italian, you know this show is not far off from authentic.

I'm a full-blooded Italian American, but my ancestors must have come from the non-yelling part of Italy. (Where is that?) We're a big extended family, and we can get loud and boisterous, but we're not yellers. We talk. We cook. We bake. We eat. We talk with our hands. Maybe with all the cooking and eating we don't have the energy to yell.
