Wow! They do gorgeous work! But I don't like all the drama. (I still think much of it is staged.)

You know...I love the aspect that it shows you how busy a bakery is. The regular bakery that has a store front and does pastries and all this other stuff. BUT, I do think there is a lot of drama. And I agree it seems so so staged. And what is up with Buddy's sister?!?! I like that they are a loud family, mine is too trust me, but it seems there is always something going on with her.

That bridezilla just grabbed a piping bag and squirted red icing all over a cake. Is THAT for real?

omg, did you see the bridezilla he has in the bakery, it was a preview for next week!

I haven't seen that preview yet... in my area it shows in about 2 hours....I can't wait!

Sorry, but I thought this episode was super gross. Brown water. Ew. Forgetting cake orders-unprofessional. Delivering the wrong cake-stupid. Looks like they take on more than they can handle.

I keep watching, hoping it will grow on me but it hasn't. While they do some beautiful cakes, I just can't stand all the yelling, the annoying Jersey accents, Buddy's huge ego, and all the staged drama. I mean, yes, we've all dealt with bridezillas, last minute orders, misplaced info, etc. in the real world, but the way they setup these situations on the show is just so fake and cheesey!

Did you all notice how they stacked the cakes? Do they put their dowels (or whatever one they use...) in BEFORE fondant?

I just saw the preview for next week-the thing with the bride and the piping bag is so staged. From what it sounded like, I thought she freaked out, grabbed a bag, and squirted red RI all over it because she was angry. Not half comatose, lazily piping her cake, and spreading it with a spatula while Buddy just stood there. Hired actress for higher ratings, anyone? Even a crazy person wouldn't do that.

It's on TLC on the food Channel.icon_wink.gif and I think it is on Monday nights after Jon and Kate plus 8.

It's on TLC, not Foodnetwork. For me (I'm in the Mountain time zone) it comes on at 8pm so it should be 10pm Eastern.

I think that cake boss won't last very long if they don't change some of the format on the show.
I love the cakes, his attitude is not great( he was like that on who's wedding is it anyway?) his family gets annoying..
and yes it looks so set up and staged.

omg! that bunny cake they did for the easter egg hunt was soooo creepy looking! and i swear they delivered that roulette table cake to the "don" of the brooklyn mafia! pinstriped suit, red tie...the works!!! i would have been sweating bullets! lol. but i have seen buddy on a cake challenge and his cakes are beautiful, but he is a hard@$$. but, since they are italian, they may be exactly like how they are on tv, in real life.

Buddy does beautiful cakes, but I agree, too much drama. I would never yell at anyone the way his sister does, if she thinks she can bake better, then why is she in the store and not the kitchen?? I think alot of it is staged, I wish they would concentrate more on the cakes and not the drama.... I think most of us get enough of that in our own lives....

I have to agree with chefjess819 about the bunny. I like any show that is about cake decorating, but that Mafia Boss thing was a little staged for my tastes.

I thought this week it just went over the top-I did not like all the screaming and drama. And, it did seem very staged. I love the cakes and the bakery, but wish they would tone down the drama. The 'big guy'??? Did that seem to be a bit too much???

After last night's episode I was kind of bored! The lady piping on that cake was ridiculous! And buddy just stood there...yeah right, like that was really going to happen.

Since everyone saw the show - i have a question. I am making a 3 tier wedding cake very similar to the cherry blossom cake from last nights show except with real flowers. I have to drive over 3 hours with so I decided to stack it on site and add the branches and flowers there. What would you recommend for the branchs? Chocolate buttercream? royal icing?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

I think you could do chocolate buttercream or chocolate clay (I think it's equal parts of chocolate & corn syrup) and mold it on there. Good LUck! I love cherry blossom cakes, they are so elegant!

Your in NJ, everyone talks like that and it's normal. Ask me my family's there, no one knows how to have a normal conversation.lol But I have to agree on some things, a little to much and that bunny was ugly, the mafia guy, was like....what the hell. So if he didn't like it they were going to shoot him or what? Otherwise nice cakes.

I've seen Buddy do a cake in person at the Food Network Challenge.. there was nothing loud and obnoxious about him there.. he didnt stress and he did beautiful work.. i think this show is staged for drama just like most everyone here has said..

I guess to the layman it might come off.. but to most people who watch who have cake experience, no one is buying it.. we dont need to see made up drama.. just show us the real deal.. they'd get more watchers..

I also think that the Amazing Wedding Cakes on WE is staged.. those decorators arent very good actors..

Just show us how they bake and decorate! I have enough drama and pseudo-drama in my life.

I have to agree with most here .. and really thought I was the ONLY one here who felt this way! Nice to know "I'm" not the only one!!

Like already said ... I love Buddy's work - however I think there are ALOT of you girlz here who do just as good - now dont get me wrong, I LOVE his work - but I can do without all that drama - staged or otherwise, I dont need to feel stress AFETR watching a show on TV!!! icon_smile.gif The yelling and screaming and such - well, no thanks!!

Cant we all just get along?? icon_wink.gif Thats what I wanna scream at them - right after they get offa the naughty spot!!!

Speaking of him being on Whose Wedding is it Anyway. There was a wedding being done by Samantha Goldberg (Jersey area), I think more of a commitment ceremony because there were 2 grooms. Anyways, they consulted and booked with this guy. And he didn't show!! So the planner ran and got supermarket cakes.
