Cookie Treat Sticks For 12" Round Cake..yes Or No????

Has anyone used the Cookie Treat Sticks by Wilton to support a simple 12" cake? I don't think I would trust them for supporting stacked tier cakes, but this is for a simple double layer cake. Do you think it will be good enough or should I use wooden dowels? I have so many of the cookie treat things, just thought I may use them for a cake I'm taking to a party. On the package it reads...thicker, sturdier sticks great for lollipops and crafts, too. Boy...they'll be a lot easier to cut then the wooden dowels. Thanks for any input.
My question, why would you need to support a 2 layer cake? I am assuming you have no topper or need to support a second tier. I have used sucker sticks as a support system for a small second tier, but if you are doing multiple heavy tiers I would use something more sturdy.
