Hi,

This cake was made for a friend who got married as a surprise to their family on Memorial day. The cake was a surprise as well, they didn't know I was bringing it. The couple said their vows right before they sat down to eat (the pastor was invited to the picnic) The couple has been together for about 9 years and have lived together about that long as well, they did it as a surprise because they didn't want any one to bring them a gift.

This cake was horrible to start with I had problems with cake, icing etc. Then the ideas just wouldn't come for a simple wedding cake.... The smudge in the front of the cake was "ironed" out after I noticed it -- A cup fell on the cake and smudged the icing, I had to re-ice that spot and wait for it to crust to "smooth" it out.

I know this cake is not the greatest, but any thoughts (when i first put it on, I must have hit the no feedback button) would be wonderful, I have a birthday cake I am doing for this friday and need a little encouragment..)

Thank you!

I think your cake turned out nice. I like the overall design you decided on. I think "simple" cakes are tough, but you did a nice job. I see a few places where the BC isn't smooth, but man oh man, BC is not my friend most of the time and I don't know if I'll ever put out a perfectly smooth BC cake. icon_lol.gif

I like the two tone borders and the way you did the letters (how they're two colors and almost 3d. ) I also like the different shapes.

I wish you liked this cake more because I imagine everyone who enjoyed it at the wedding LOVED it....for how it looked and tasted and also because it was a special gift from you! icon_smile.gif

I think that cake is really pretty! That sounds good with the choc chip pudding in it too! How did it taste? Did you find the chocolate chips sank or did they mix in well? I always have a problem with my chips sinking to the bottom of my cake. I love the cake. I would be proud to serve it- seriously!!!

Try dredging your chips in a little bit of flour to keep them from sinking to the bottom of your cake.

I think its cute. BC isnt my friend. I struggle w/making it look smooth. I shy away from it but I have mastered fondant. I just love it. So perk up

Thank you so much!!!

I just had a report from the bride and groom - The cake was so good, that they had to take part of it to their jobs so that they wouldn't eat it all! (this made my day!!) My husband and I didn't get to try the cake because we had to leave to go to the hospital to see his son (another long story that I won't bore you with) however he is out now and doing well.

The chocolate chip pudding mix (new from jello) mixed in very well the chocolate chips were throughout the cake and were just teeny tiny little chips, which made it nice...

Thank you all very much for the encouragement!!

Your boarders and monogram are lovely. buttercream is a bit@h. That's why I go with a "rustic" look for buttercream icon_biggrin.gif .

"It's not suppose to be smooth. It's the rustic look. That's very in style now." icon_lol.gif

Your cake is beautiful, don't doubt yourself. thumbs_up.gif

I love the monogram! They must have been very touched that you would do this for them.
