I have a friend who has asked me to do a cake for her brother's 25th anniversary. She's not sure of the guest count yet and only specified that she would like a stacked type design, possibly 3 tiers. She had NO idea what she wanted, but semi-ruled out the formal fondant look, probably something a little more casual but simple.
I didn't see very many ideas in the gallery. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?? I would like to do the cake in silver but don't know where to begin. I was thinking maybe ribbon (real or gumpaste) around the edges, maybe a bow on top (if I can manage that!)
Any suggestions??
THANKS!

Take a peek in the Wedding cake gallery. I've always associated a 25th anniversary cake along the lines of a smaller wedding cake. Ribbons (real or fondant) around the cakes always look so pretty. With the fondant you could paint with metallic lustre dust to achieve a silver look. Put a silver bow on top - very elegant!

I agree, if they want simple and tier. I'd go w/the ribbon around the base and a bow on top is always elegant.

I also saw a few cakes in the wedding gallery that have decorated each teir w/small dots and put a bow on top and thought those cakes were beatuiful!! I just looked and antonia74 has one her gallery. Not sure if the link will work though. But something like that would be pretty. You can ice in BC instead of fondant.

What about re-creating their original wedding cake? I've heard of that being done and I think it's a romantic and sweet idea. Just a thought. icon_smile.gif
