New Ad Block at top of Site

we have launched a new ad block at the top of the website. You have to hover over it to get the full version of the ad.

We have launched this ad block in an attempt to reduce the amount of space in the content area taken up by ads. This is being run on a trial basis, it may or may not be permanent.

I wanted to post about this so that people did not think it was a virus or spyware.

what is with the little orange (i think it a) chicken, sweeping above me screen... I only get here on CC, no other site.

I think the little "chicken" thingy is kinda cute. I thought I had a driveby download at first though...sure acts like it at first!

The chicken is the "loader" for the ad block, it just comes up in as the ad is being loaded.

that is seriously the most annoying advertising feature I've ever seen. You can't get rid of it. You close it once, it pops up as soon as you're on a new page.

And it follows you. You can't scroll to get away from it, it's always there at the top of your viewing area.

VERY distracting, and nearly guaranteed to get me to stop visiting...if I can't see a picture because of the adverts, then what's the point?

what is your screen resolution? I have never had it stop me from seeing anything on the site, in fact most of the time I don't even notice it is there.

I think the little chick is adorable...I tried to click on it and close him out but there he stayed....he's grown on me in the last 20 minutes so I say he should be a keeper. He's getting cuter and cuter by the second. As for the actual "hanging" ad...it's a distraction yes, but I don't think anything could stop me from visiting. The add would have to cover THE WHOLE D@MN PAGE for me to stop coming. But that's just me...an official cake central addict LOL

Have you tried clicking the "x" on the left side of the ad-bar to make it go away?

I find some of them irritating, but as long as it keeps giving me access to CC, I can deal with it .... NO-O-O-O-O-O problem! thumbs_up.gif

The kind of ads that block your view are usually adware. It has nothing to do with CC. You are going to have to remove that from your computer.

I can't promise that it is gone for good, we only took it down because we were getting errors from it. Two days is not enough testing time to really see how it works out or to make adjustments.
