Okay, I normally hate questions about pricing, and I am sure most of you are sick of pricing questions but I going to press my luck and ask for some guidance.
I am making 100 cuppies for a wedding. It costs me approx. $5.15 cdn. to make 24 cuppies, iced 1M swirl.
I have attached some pictures of samples that I did last night. I don't want to get to technical with individual pricing, so I grouped them in two groups.
Tell me if I am way off.........
Resizedwc1: are cuppies with gumpaste, fondant, and a little more decoration. I was going to charge $3.50 ea.
Resizedwc2: are cuppies with a swirl (1M or other) and I was going to charge $2.00ea

But, I know it depends on location and "cost of life" so I was going to make a list of average things we buy and how much I pay for them. Ex. $2.20/gallon of gas, $2.85/1.5dz eggs. But, you're way was so much better just giving your cost. HAHAHAHA I hope u get ur answers so I can try and calculate if I'm not off on my prices. HAHAHAHA Altho I had some great advice a while ago and think I'm pretty good. 
I know it depends on location but I think your pricing is pretty good! I've read that 1 cupcake is considered 1 serving so $2 for buttercream and 3.50 for fondant sounds really reasonable! Good luck!
I think the $2.00 is good for the first set. And I would say $3.00 each for the fondant covered ones. Unless you want to raise your buttercream to $2.50 and then do $3.50. $1.50 just seems like a big difference in the price to me. Anyway, hope this helps. If they will pay it, charge it!
WOW. IAM SO GLAD I JOINED THIS SIGHT! I AM A NEWBIE AT ALL OF THIS. I GET VERY NERVOUS, WHEN IT COMES TO PRICING. CAKES I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH, BUT CUPCAKES ARE SUPPOSE TO BE THE ECONOMY SIDE OF AN EVENT. ( SO THAT IS WHAT CUSTOMERS TELL ME THAT THEY NEED SOMETHING QUICK AND INEXPENSIVE) sO I HAVE BEEN CHARGING BY THE DOZEN AND I SUPPOSE NOT ENOUGH, tHANKS FOR SETTING ME STRAIGHT 
I think you pricing sounds just about right!! I charge $2.50 per standard size cupcake with a basic Buttercream icing swirl.If you want fondant accents,butterflies flowers I charge $3.50 each.There is a local cupcake cafe that opened a few years ago which is very popular and very busy and they charge $2.95 each with BC icing...and they taste like crap so I say all the power to you!!!
I have to make 50 red velvet cupcakes or 50 small cakes. I have no clue as to how much should I charge for these. It's the first time I will be making a big order. Then 2 weeks later I have to make a cake for the same lady a red velvet cake which I'm charging her $30.00 for a 10" cake, do you think it's a fair price. The bakery is charging 32.00. I was going to charge her 1.75 for the cupcakes & 3.00 but now I'm not sure after reading the post. Any advice will be appreciated.
The cupcakes should be at least between $1.50-$2.50 each..The small cakes depending on what you mean...Do you mean actual mini cakes or tiered minis..that is a whole different ball park..they can be anywhere from $5.00 and up...They are a tremendous ampunt of work!! A 10 inch is quite a big cake which feeds 15 single layer..30 double so I would charge $45.00 for the single layer or $90.00 for the double layer.HTH
mom32008, I only charge $4 for a dozen minis with a swirl...no filling.
Cakes22: We recently took part in a community garage sale and I had leftover buttercream so I made 4 dozen cupcakes iced with 1M swirl plus some daisies using a large rose tip. I sold them for $2 each and no one questioned the price. I would think you could get more than $2 if they were presented anywhere other than in a garage (and also anywhere other than Winnipeg!!)
OMG! I'm making 50 red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing for $75.00 after reading all the posts here on CC I undercharged
I know I can't go and hike the price after I quoted a price already. Lesson learned
Unfortunately, it sounds like you have to stick to the $75 price. 
The good news is that now you know what to charge and go can up from there. Maybe you should tell the lady that this is a special deal. That way the next time she comes to see you, she won't freak out about your prices.
On Twitter, i'm following a baker in Georgia and he posted a message that he had fresh cupcakes in the shop "come in and pick them up" and said they were $15 each. I don't knwo if he meant each DOZEN or each CUPCAKE, but if he gets that per cupcake, then I'm moving to Georgia! !
wE ARE LOCATED IN pENNA. DUTCH COUNTRY NEAR LANCASTER, PA. WE WERE AT A PICNIC AND THEY WERE SELLING CUPCAKES FOR $.50EA AT THE BAKE STAND. i MENTIONED THAT i HEARD THAT PEOPLE WERE GETTING $2.00 EA. OTHER PLACES. THEY SAID " for ONE cupcake"???
BUT YOU ALL ARE RIGHT THEY ARE A LOT OF WORK. I JUST HAVE TO CONVINCE MY CUSTOMERS - THAT WILL TAKE SOME DOING. rIGHT NOW i GET $10.00/DZ. AND THAT IS A SWIRL WITH SPRINKLES. YOU SAY " WHAT ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND???" 
Sometimes they just need educated. They've ALWAYS paid 50 cents for a cupcake so that MUST be the "going rate".
I got an email this week from an event planner who I've worked with before, looking to purchase some large drop-type cookies (choc chip, etc) for a fundraiser. God luv her, she didnt' ask me to donate, she asked me for a price.
She told me they wanted a 4" cookie, bagged, that they were wanting to sell for $1. I told her she might want to reconsider the price because she was undercutting herself and undervaluing a cookie that size. Reminded her that a Starbucks cookie sold for $1.75 to $2.00 ".....and their's isn't NEAR as good as mine!"
She replied "You're probably right, we're selling them too cheap, so we'll up them to $2." So I worked up a price that is fair to me and enables them to make a good profit for their fundraiser.
Sometimes you just need to educate them.
