I have been making frosting for a very long time with just a simple recipe my aunt gave me. crisco, vanilla, powdered sugar, salt water. The last few times I have made it, It was either to thick or to thin and would slide. I am making my neices cake for her 2nd Bday this weekend and am looking for an easy/simple recipe. For a good icing. I am using the Abby Cadabby shape pan so alot of the design will be stars. Can you suggest a good easy recipe to use? Perferably without meringue powder.

Please excuse all my bad spelling. Its been one of those days.

Oh and I have looked at the recipe section I just get so overwhelmed with it all.

Thanks in advance for your help

If you have no access to hi ratio shortening, I would suggest you try Indydebi's recipe or Serious Cakes.

I make a lot of the character cakes with stars and have started using Indydebi's recipe and it works very well for what you are doing. HTH

Sounds like the recipe called for oringinal crisco before they took the trans fat out of it. That may be why you are having trouble with the recipe now.
