I'm new to the fondant world. The birthday cake I'm making has a butter cream layer with a white MMF on top. The request is to have black writing. My question is will the color bleed from the black writing into the fondant? I've done white on white but I've never done a color butter cream on top of white.
Hi, I haven't used buttercream to write on fondant. I would use either black royal icing or letter cutters.
Thank you. So you've used royal icing on fondant and it hasn't bled? I'm really stressing about this because I'm making the cake tonight for Saturday morning... because I'm out of town as of tomorrow. So if it bleeds then there is no way for me to make another one or fix the situation.
Yes I have. If you are worried about it, why not use some letter cutters to do the lettering.
Another option for you is to pipe the black RI lettering/script onto a sheet of acetate or waxed paper, and let it dry. Then carefully transfer the dry writing to your cake.
There's a white fondant cake w/ black RI scrollwork in my photos. No problems with bleeding at all. Have fun!
I've written on fondant before with the black icing tubes that come from Wilton. Never had a problem at all.
