I am looking for a unique recipe from scratch (I will not be using box mixes) for an upcoming event. I am tired of presenting people with the typical chocolate, vanilla, butter, banana or carrot!
Any suggestions on a unique cake flavor and filling??
Thanks!!!!!

German Chocolate - light chocolate cake with a caramel, pecan, coconut frosting

Thank you so much!! I will be covering the cake with fondant so need a base icing that is not nutty, I think!
Right now I am leaning towards a pineapple cake with lemon curd between the layers and lemon butter cream as a crumb coat, but I'm definitely going to check out some of the flavors you post. I am starved now just reading them!!!!
Thanks muchly!

You dont have to use the same icing for filling that you do for crumb coating. In fact I never do. Fillings for me are room for experimentation. I use nuts, mini chocolate chips, fruit, peanut butter, pecan butter, etc. for fillings and then crumb coat in a regular old stiff vanilla (or other complmenting flavor) BC.
