Just had to share this cute story.

Last night I was baking like crazy in order to do a cake for my in-laws anniversay and my mom and step dad's b'day.

It's about 8:00 and my son who is 3-1/2 says to my "Mommy will you make me a buzz lightyear cake." (He just was looking at a picture of a buzz cake I made for him that had an edible image when he had turned 3) So I say, Honey mommy doesn't have a buzz to put on the cake. At that point my husband comes into the kitchen and he turns to him and says just crushed, "Daddy, mommy won't make me a buzz cake, and with that he goes into the other room, heartbroken, and just cries his little heart out.

It broke my heart I couldn't make it right then & there icon_cry.gif I sit down with him and tell him I will go get a buzz in the morning to put on his cake but we can at least make the cake and I'll put buzz on tomorrow.

With that, the tears begin to stop and he tells me, I want the cake blue too ok?. Already then.........blue cake it is...........

So today, as ordered, the vanilla cake is now blue (bleh!!!), its iced and Buzz is on the cake, Mission Accomplished icon_biggrin.gif

Don't they know just the right way to break moms heart!!! I feel guilty about it sometimes because it seems like I am always making cakes for someone else. I usually try and use the extra to make cupcakes or something. Hang in there and that was very nice of you to make him a cake . icon_biggrin.gif

Ohhh! That was cute!

When my teenagers come home from school they can usually smell the cakes from outside. They walk in the house saying, "Mom made another cake today & it's not for us". They only get the mishap cakes!! LOL!! I don't have too many practice ones anymore. icon_sad.gif

My 6 year old asked me if hse could help me with a cake that I was just finishing up on, and when I told her that I was finished she looked at me and said "That's all you ever do anymore, cakes, cakes, cakes. You never have time for me!" How's that for a good helping of guilt? I had to promise her to let her help on a small cake of her own.

Ok, these posts are so cute, with the little ones wanting cake too! icon_biggrin.gif This makes me laugh because my 19-year old son complained last week that I am ALWAYS baking for OTHER people! When am I going to bake one for US?! haha icon_lol.gif I was in the middle of baking a cake for 1 person and decorating a cake for another person! I had an pineapple upside down mix in the pantry, so I threw that in the oven too! He thought that was great!
