too much powdered sugar on fondant, how do I remove it

Hi, I live in Florida so I am using confectioners sugar to combat the wet fondant now that I have it all on and decorated how do I remove the excess sugar. I have brushed it and it still looks dull and powdery. Can I give it an egg wash to bring it back to life? icon_confused.gif

Try painting it with a little vodka. That should melt the sugar and give you a nice shiny look.

If you have a steamer run it over the fondant and the excess will melt right off, or you can get shortening and rub it on the fondant. Those are the methods I use and it works great!

I use Crisco Shortening to rub the excess sugar off...

but if you don't, you can use clear vanilla or lemon or almond extracts.

I use a VERY fine mist of water ( I suppose you could put vodka or vanilla too) and let it dry without touching it. It gets rid of all the power. FYI.... the sour candy spray bottles that the kids love is a great fine mister. I save my kids and wash them out and they work great.
