Bye bye cookie business (sniff)

I thought I would come to CC for a collective shoulder to cry on icon_lol.gif
I have finally decided to close the oven doors on my cookie business. The biggest reason is the reality of doing my level of business (small) in the state of CA. If I could legally work from home or if I wanted to ramp things up and do more "mass production" style cookies in a rented kitchen, it could work. I would love to some day open a cute little store front bakery. But for now I am focusing on my young children, husband and home.
I miss the "all cookies, all the time" mode I was in. And I miss cruising CC as much as I used to. But I'll be back with hobby cookies from time to time, and I'll always be here to check out the incredible creations from all of you!

There, there...dry those tears. Just read your signature! Maybe something else is around the next "corner" for you. I do know how you feel, though, as I have been in the same place. But, something will work out for you in future, I'm sure.

((((((HUGS))))))) Remember that baking can always wait, and your children will only be little once! Being a mommy is a very good reason to put cookies on hold. Your family will grow and then you go back to cookies. icon_smile.gif

I prsonally can't think of a better reason to let the oven go cold for a while. As mentioned, children grow up so quickly, and you can't get that back. Some day, when they're all self-obsessed, him worrying about what to wear to impress his friends, or her thinking "will he ever call???" you can smile and decorate some of your gorgeous cookies, knowing you were there for them.

People often speak of putting their lives or dreams on hold for their children, but I truly don't see it that way. Every day my kids do something new and amazing... why would I want to miss that? Other things may be put on hold, but it's for ME, so I can enjoy watching my boys grow, learn, and become the amazing people I know they will. Those are memories I will never regret!! So, the best of luck to you, and the 'hobby' occasions will be that much more fun!

OMG! your cookies are amazing! I am sorry to hear you have to leave the business, but may be there's something you can do, have you consider writing a step by step book on how to make your amazing cookies? I'am sure it would be a big hit!

Oooh, yes, write a book! I've always admired your cookies and I would definitely buy it, and your kids would be so proud! Just don't get all caught up in a big book tour, we saw how that turned out for Kate Gosselin. icon_smile.gif Have fun with your family and make them cookies whenever you can. icon_smile.gif

Your cookies are amazing & I'm sure your kids are too! Enjoy them before they grow up on you. You'll still have time to enjoy doing cookies just not in the capacity your used to for a few years thumbs_up.gif

I am so sorry to hear this, but i understand. I often tell my now 17 year old, that yes i put my life and dreams on hold, but only to help him reach his! I have never regretted my decision, because he has givien me the best dream of all, and i got to see and hear and be a part of it, not just watching from a far. Besides, you will still be able to scratch that baking itch, just think of all those fund raisers and parties, and sleepovers youll be involved with. Best of luck, savor all of it.

Hi, i saw your cookies and are "BEAUTIFUL", and I think it will be a wonderful idea to write a book on how to make beautiful cookies of maybe to offer classes to your neighbors or make short courses, etc. Good luck
