I got a supply list for the cookie couture class. There are a few things needed but nothing major just a few tips, a spatula, ball tool. small thing like that nothing big.
Also it got sent to my junk mail folder. So you might want to check that if you haven't gotten a list.

I got mine for Zane's class. All I need is a small rolling pin, then some gumpaste tools, like the ball and such. I got those covered and am glad they aren't big bulky items I have to carry around all day. icon_smile.gif

I just set up my volunteer slots: the cake room, the welcome room and the vendor room.

I figure now I have a better chance of running into my CC pals

I'm also from Colombia but I have lived in Chicago 40 some years. Count me in for the button or ID.
If there is anything I can help you with over here in Chicago just let me know and thank you for all the ideas.
This is my first time going to ICES.
Ola Sweetparty, espero conocerte.

I'm so glad to see this thread. This will be my first ICES convention and I'm so excited!

I finally have an idea for my display. Now I need to get into the actual implementation.

I've been organizing my cake equipment and accessories to make room for any new additions. icon_biggrin.gif

Clarmar, is there any must eat at places (beside chain restaurants) in the St Charles or Chicago area?

Texas:

Salerno's on the Fox is supposed to be good Italian food
Sage Bistro American cuisine
Francesca's by the River Ive been there very good
there are lots of others, here is a link to a restaurant web site for st charles:

http://chicago.metromix.com/facets/restaurants/loc.chicago_market.suburbs.west.st_charles?override_for_ads=true&page=1

as for as chicago, you name it, there is a cuisine for you.

Texas: I agree with Nannie, Francesca's by the River. I love Meson Sabika www.mesonsabika.com in Naperville but it's about 15 miles from St Charles. They serve the Spanish Tapas and you can have from one to several dishes according to your taste or appetite. They say The Harvest is very good, I haven't been there.
Nannie: I live at the other end, Plainfield.

Nannie,

You're a little closer than me. I'm further north in Grayslake.

As much as I'd like to be on site staying in St Charles, I'd rather save a little money so I can justify San Diego in 2010.

Hello everyone! This is my second convention, but the first one I have to fly to. I'm bringing just a very small display - a bouquet of flowers (hopefully..still working on them).

Nannie - I'm also taking Bronwen's hands-on class! yay! By the way, did you know "nani" in Hawaiian means beautiful? icon_smile.gif

I know people posted the hands on demo's they were doing in one of these threads. I just can't remember which it is in.

You can send an email to [email protected] and ask if there is anything you need to bring for your hands on. She is the one that is charge of them and sent out the supply lists.

Hope this helps!

I won't get there till Thursday - we leave Ohio early that morning. I am in Nic Lodge's hands on that afternoon. There is a message board at convention where you can leave messages for others on it?? I will carry the name badges with me until they are all delivered. (and I will have mine on of course!!) icon_biggrin.gif

I'm leaving Tuesday morning and arriving Wed at some point. Wed I am just getting my registration stuff taken care of and dropping off my cakes. I'll be staying at the Hampton Inn.

I'm cool with where ever anyone pics to meet. Who was it that said they have been to the hotel? Where did they suggest we try to meet up?

Loucinda they have a cork board up at the convention for people to leave messages on it. It is usually around the registration area or the central area of the convention.

I'm the one who's stayed at Pheasant Run. icon_wink.gif The Atrium is a very easy place to meet...and there's no mistaking it, for sure. The Clubhouse Lounge is in the open area by the Tower elevators and is also a central meeting place.
I'm staying at Pheasant Run, but won't be arriving until Friday.

Here's the link to the PDF of the resort. I posted it earlier in the thread but that was pages ago. icon_smile.gif
