I'm making gum paste calla lilies for the first time and was wondering if anyone had advice or pictures or know of a video for the steps... I understand the basic idea but just want to be sure of what I'm doing, I'm planning on starting them in the next couple days since the cake is for June 19th and it's 7 tiers.
Any help would be awesome!!!
Edna has a fantastic video on youtube.

They are sooooo easy and elegant looking. Good luck!!
Check out Edna's tutorial on youtube. It is fantastic and will give you beautiful callas!
When making gumpaste calla lillies, I usually make my centers first and put them on toothpicks to dry. It is easier to work with them when they are hard. If you'd like you can roll them in cornmeal or yellow sugar. You would need to put gum glue on the centers first so that the cornmeal/sugar would stick. Then using a heart shape cutter you would cut your petals out. The size of your centers would depend on the size of your petals. Hope this info helps. Good Luck!
I vein mine with corn husks that you buy at the grocery to make tamalies. Super cheap and basically works like a more expensive veiner.
I like the corn husk idea! I do the same with letting my centers dry. I use polenta and daffodil petal dust mixed together and dip it in gum glue and then into the polenta. I give that a chance to dry also before attaching the petal. I use a wrap around motion and take the point of the petal and turn it slightly down. Then I let it dry. Afterwards I dust the inside with a light green color and then the rest with white mixed with super pearl.
Edna looks just like that girl that is on FN that does the latino cooking! I cant remember her name though. But she looks like a model!! Must be nice to have the LOOKS and the talent!
This was one of my first fondant efforts. I made a pattern and cut the fondant. I rolled up some yellow fondant for the middle and wrapped the white around it. It was actually quite easy.
Some advise - make extras.

Edna's tutorial helped me make my niece's wedding cake. Edna is awesome.
I didn't have a veiner...and I would have LOVED to hear about the corn husk idea and the polenta...who'd have thunk?
I also recommend Edna's YouTube video -- AWESOME! I just made my first gum paste callas for a cake this week (picture in my photos) and they came out great. I was so pleased!
