I was watching an episode of Aceof Cakes and saw Duff using what looked like a can of spray paint. I'm not sure if he was painting part of the cake or a non-edible part of the cake. I think he was spraying an engine for the Jay Leno Show. Has anyone ever heard of this or used it and if so where do you get it?

Wilton carries cans of aerosol spray color. They are edible. I can get them at Michael's here in Michigan.

I missed most of the jay leno show with the engine cake, but I think the episode right before that he used a can of spray. He made the 61/2 foot whisk and when he got to his location he had some touch up to do. On that he used a Prevail Sprayer. You can purchase them at home depot in the paint section. You mix your color and vodka in the glass jar and then screw it to the bottom of the aerosol can. A friend of mine told me about them, because of them being so cheap and a decent substitute for an airbrush machine. I used one once, but then talked to my dad about what was in the can that sprays your color out. It does contain propane and other toxic ingredients. I have no idea how much would actually land on your cake, but I'm not taking the chance any more. I've heard about half the bakers say it's okay to use and the other half say it's toxic and don't use on edible food. I ended up buying an airbrushing machine, which turned out to not be that expensive. Hope that helped.

There is PME luster spray, that comes in different colors including gold.

ditto what destinyrn says...PME from the UK but now stocks it here in the US and Canada has lustre sprays that are silver,gold,bronze,copper,pearl.That is what he used!!
