Wow!! What great ideas! I love the flower pot idea. They have the minis @ Michael's. I don't get many cc orders Here's the only one that i've made so far:
http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-photo_1558914.html
Just foam core & 4 inch styrofoam rounds.
Here's my plexiglass cupcake tower that my Dad did last month. I used it to hold a 2-tier cake on the topmost plate, and 200 cupcakes on the rest of the plates. Top tier is 10" and the bottom tier is 34", if i'm not mistaken. We sort of followed the design of the big cupcake tree from cupcaketree.com, but in plexiglass. We also used a 4" pipe as the middle pole so I can put different decors depending on the theme (christmas balls, plastic fruits, flowers, pinecones, lights, etc). Everything is collapsable and i can use less tiers if needed.
Sorry for the mess. This was taken when the blue cover was still intact. We took them off, of course, so it's all clear. I am still waiting for the official wedding photographer to send me the photos -- I forgot my camera the day I delivered order. Tsk!
Thanks for looking!
YOu guys are great! I think I have convinced DH he can make me one.. He can fix a tub, lay a wood floor and build a room but doesnt think he can build a cupcake tower!
My dad made this out of pine I think...He had a bunch laying around from a recent job. He made it so I can unscrew it and play around with the sizes. The largest one is 22" and the smallest is 6". But I usually use 8,10,12,14.
WOW! Great stands! Now I'm inspired to make my own, I'm the handy-man at our house.....Go figure.....
Thanks guys!
You guys are all so creative. I'm so glad to be associated with such creativity and talent!

This is really nice! hows it put together/held together? looks like a center pole too down the middle right?
Pepwei I love your tower, so beautiful! Could you tell me more about how it is constructed and how you take it apart I would love to make one. Thanks!
This one is actually 4 tiers, I just didn't need the top one. The bottom is mdf, the tiers are foam board wrapped in white ribbon, and the dividers are La Choy dry noodle cans covered in contact paper. My husband had some left over mdf at work, so altogether this was less than 10 dollars to make.
Ok, it's too big to load here. It's under Pink Smash Cake in my photos.
Here is the 1st one I made, I see the bride tomorrow and I am hoping it held up...
for some reason I can't upload the pic but it is under my photos
Traci - I am in the processing of making a cupcake tower for my grandson's birthday. Could you tell me how did you assemble the pvc with the painted plywood plates. I need to make this in a couple of weeks. I hope you can respond in time!
