I am a newbie at cake decorating, having taken the three Wilton courses last summer just because my friend needed someone for buy one, get one free. I am on the boys athletics booster club board at my son's junior high and volunteered to make the cakes for their awards banquet. I was also in charge or decorating the gym for the banquet and then got the bright idea to make cookie bouquets for each of the 6 coaches. I want to say THANK YOU to so many of you who helped me and inspired me so much. From Sugarshack for her icing recipe and instructions, Sharon7 and Rstml for their football cakes and tips, Mac for her bear claw cookies, CanadaLes for the flames (to be used behind the fondant basketball I made for one of the cakes); Indydebi for cake cutting instructions/serving sizes and general advice; Shiney for how to put the sticks on the bags instead of in the cookies; Antonia74 for cookie making instructions, the contributors (sorry, lost my list) of the WASC, Chocolate WASC, NFSC, Amazing Chocolate Cookies, and Sugar Cookie icing recipes; and the instructions for buttercream transfers and so many others that are too numerous to list. I lurked in the forums and found answers to all my questions and solutions to all my problems (there were a zillion of both). Honestly, EVERY time I had needed something, I found it here. My cakes tasted great; I ran out of time and they didn't look that great, though the football and basketballs turned out really well; the cookies turned out fantastic, but I was still at home icing cakes when the banquet started (I sent the first three cakes ahead with a friend) so I finally had to give up and go. I only got a picture of one leftover cookie and of the football and basketball with my phone. I totally underestimated how time-consuming this stuff is. My hat is off to all of you. CC and its members ROCK! icon_biggrin.gifthumbs_up.gif

I'll try to figure out how to do that, but the two taken with my phone aren't going to be very good. I promise...they looked good in person icon_lol.gif

I was able to upload the picture of the only cookie I had left over. Dang...cookies are hard and take forever. I was up every day last week until 2:00 - 3:00 a.m. (and back up at 5:30 with kids) trying to get everything done. I had footballs, basketballs, golf balls, helmets, tennis racquets, golf bags, bears and tennis balls. Oh well. I'm looking for the picture of the RKT fondant football and basketball I took with my phone at the banquet, but they aren't there or I'm looking in the wrong place. I'm technically challenged.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I agree with you solascakes, there is an amazing amount of talent and information on this site. It would have been a mile-long post if I had been able to list all I have learned here. I am so grateful those who know are willing to share.
