Hi all! I've never made a gumpaste figure before, but I know a little boy that really wants a Yoda cake this weekend... I am planning an 8" round cake with a Yoda topper. In all, he'll stand about 3" tall. I have to make his white robe and assemble him, but I'm worried about his face for now.
How does this look for a first try? He has one wonky eye, but I'm afraid "fixing" that will ruin the rest. Do you think this will be OK, or should I make a second attempt?

Half the time I look and think he looks fine. The other half I think he looks too much like Gollum from LOTR, uh-oh! the good thing is I stll have time to make the final decision... Why it's good to get started on these things early, I guess.

I just asked my 5 year old Star Wars fan if he knew who it was and he said YODA. He asked me how you did it and when I asked him if you should redo it or keep the one you made he looked at me funny and said: "Keep it! I like it!" So there you go. You have the approval of my in-house expert

Oh he looks awesome! My rule of thumb is make two or three of everything--so I don't think you need to make another one to improve the first one but you really should make a second one. In the immortal words of Forest Gump "'stuff' happens".
