Knowledge is a candle that when shared, doubles the light, but the insecure person believes knowledge is a candle that is diminished when it is split between two wicks.

Love the pics of your fabulous creations!

Has anyone tried a dehydrator to speed the drying time?

I may try that for some sunglasses I am doing. Will let you know...

No, I haven't tried the dehydrator but I'd be leary of doing that because of the brittleness you would get. When the gelatin is dry it should be flexible and while I do use the dehydrator for gumpaste on occasion, where the item needs to be dried through and through, there's no reason why your sunglasses wouldn't dry overnight.

Please tell me where I can get the molds for the butterflies? icon_smile.gif They are absolutely the most beautiful thing I have seen! Also, is there a book out about this? I am still learning and I would love to keep expanding my knowledge.

I am sending you a pm as to where you get the mats and the books. icon_smile.gif

I have my shopping cart w/ the butterfly veining sheet...wondering if I should get a texture sheet, too...

or how about the flower veining sheets? This could get expensive... icon_wink.gif

Anyone have favorites?

Buy the texture sheets if you want to do bows. Buy the various flowers/leaves veining sheets if you want to do those flowers or leaves. I started with the butterfly mats and ended up getting everything. icon_biggrin.gif

Okay, I went to my local cake shop here, (they have EVERYTHING) and bought the book, a butterfly veining sheet, one flower veining sheet, and the bug bodies. The book doesn't make this seem very complicated. Is it really as simple as it looks? icon_confused.gif It seems fairly idiot proof if you have done cake work before....

Oh. Well I'm sorry to hear that. I just don't see how you're going to make butterflies on a leaf veining mat, but hey, to each is own I guess. icon_rolleyes.gificon_lol.gif
