Need ideas for a BBQ themed baby shower

Well, the title says it all.....I do'nt know the gender of the baby yet, but I need a cake to serve 60 people for a BBQ themed baby shower. They want the cake BBQ themed, but also want it to be babyish.

I'm clueless where to start with this one....any ideas are truly appreciated!

red/white checkered tablecloth looking layer .. if tiered. lots of mini burgers & hot dogs, spatula or fork with a fondant sign saying Welcome Baby or ... ohhh wait this just popped in my head.. saying Bun in the Oven ... can't think of much else, hopefully someone else can come up with more for you.

I'm kind of fond of the red bandana cakes...maybe with some little denim overalls? To me that's BBQ-ey (is that a word? icon_lol.gif )

Maybe make the base of the cake look like a checked picnic blaket and put a "plate" on it just PILED up with food, then make it say "eating for 2."

Or a baby sitting next to a grill with a spatula in its hand?

I am not sure how to bring this to fruition but what about a "bun in the oven" type theme?

First thing that comes to mind is a bunch of babies eating at a picnic table eating bbq. (picturing the penguin having a party on the iceburg cake seen on Ace of Cakes).

I don't know why but as soon as I saw this thread a picture of a baby sitting on top of a closed grill (like the $30 ones at walmart) popped into my head. The baby has a huge grin on his face icon_biggrin.gif and a chicken leg in each hand. Also a bib that says "Kiss the Cook" and a diaper. I think I have lost my mind! lol Good luck on your cake. How about... make a little baby with a spatula in his/her hand, sitting next to a BBQ and there's mini hot dogs and hamburgers scattered across the cake? It just popped into my mind!

I don't know why but this thread is stuck in my head. Now I am thinking of that baby sitting on a huge hamburger with a bottle of mustard in one hand and a bottle of ketchup in the other! <<<<---------- I don't care who you are, that's genius right there! lol icon_biggrin.gif

This just popped into my head. What about a baby in a chef hat..and on the cake or board "babyque king". Corny I know...but hey..sound cute in my head. lol icon_biggrin.gif
