.....what is your very favorite cake/filling combo?
I have finally decided on the design for my 40th birthday cake and I want to try some new and interesting flavors. It will be a 3 tier and 1 tier will be Black Magic Cake with cookies and cream filling. The other two tiers are waiting for inspiration.
Thanks for any ideas you have.

My family's favorite is vanilla bean white cake filled with vanilla custard (with sliced strawberries and bananas pressed into the custard).

(And I love melysa's coconut cake combo! Sounds super delish!)

My all time favorite cake is carrot with actual cheesecake sandwiched between.

My son told me yesterday that I should do my chocolate chip cookie dough cheesecake as a center of my dark chocolate cake. Sounds yummy I told him if it works I'll have to name it after him, lol.

Here are some others I love...

Dulce de Leche Rum Cake
Bananas Foster
Berry Sunshine (vanilla cake with layers of lemon mousse and raspberry curd)

Last weekend I did a lemon butter cake with a SMBC icing and smbc combined with fresh berries (strawberries and raspberries). Was wonderful. One that I get a lot of requests for is Orange cake (Beth's in cc recipes) with SMBC.

Would you be willing to share that recipe? If not, I understand. I am looking for some good pistachio recipes that don't feature "pudding mix" as a base, but rather ground (real) pistachios.

Thank you! icon_smile.gif

I am thinking of making the carrot cake with the cheese cake filling for my sons 1yr birthday party and was wondering what frosting to you usually use. I am afraid that the traditional cream cheese frosting would be too much with the cheese cake filling. Any advice would really be apreciated. icon_biggrin.gif
