This may be a stupid question but I want to try one of the buttercream recipes on this site and it calls for a stick of butter. I buy my butter in blocks and I'm sure that there is less butter in a stick than a block. Can anyone tell me the measurement of a stick of butter?

I'm guessing that it is one cup or aprox 250g. Can anyone confirm this?
