You can download a free template, print and cut them out. You can use your favourite card. There is a butterfly and daisy box, but they are easily customised to suit your occasion.

You will need to cut out the outside shape so it is one piece.

Then fold all the inner lines to make sharp creases.

You will need to cut along the butterfly or flower shape where it tells you to only to the centre on opposite sides. They will link togethor.

You could put any picture you like on the top of the box. Just cut it in half and stick one half on each side of the clasp.

Bummer. I've been trying to copy the pattern all day, and I keep getting an error for paper size. Am I just being an idiot? Can someone clue me in on how to get it to copy?

Go to papermart.com or search for other box/packaging companies. I'm pretty sure I've seen clear plastic boxes, similar to this shape and design w/o the butterfly or daisy. If you like that idea, it would save you time. These butterfly boxes look beautiful, but very time consuming to do yourself, I think.

I played around with this for awhile yesterday. I printed it out in Adobe, then scanned it into my files as a jpeg. That let me use it in printshop. I cut off the daisy or butterfly and lengthened the box about an inch on each end. I printed some pretty background paper, then printed the box on the reverse side (without the butterfly or daisy). I intend to print the butterfly, daisy or whatever you want on labels, then reattach. This gives you the freedom to print or use any background you would want. It all worked out pretty well. I used just regular paper while I was playing around, the boxes go together fairly well, cardstock will work great. It was time consuming so it depends on how much you want to fuss around.

I am a crafter from way back, so it is fun for me to use computer skills, scrapbooking and baking to come up with something out of the ordinary. If you are doing this for a living, you would want to come up with something easier, unless it was very special.

Can I just ask how they got the print on the box? Did their paper already have the print? I'm assuming that you have to use cardstock? Does cardstock come with a print? I've only seen plain white or red/blue, etc.

You could do a couple of things. If you have greeting card software, or something like Photoshop, you can print whatever you would like on cardstock, then turn it over and print the box. As I was explaining above, you have to lengthen the box, then reapply the butterfly or daisy. You could also print the box on cardstock, and use scrapbook or wrapping paper with a glue stick and get your print that way. Hope this makes sense.
