Will Never Buy From Home Baker
Decorating By quilting2011 Updated 27 Apr 2009 , 1:13pm by ntertayneme
I'm a very responsible and clean home baker. I always brush my dogs' teeth before I let them lick out the bowls and cake pans.
We're on water restriction. I guess I could use the water from the 50 gal aquarium....it IS filtered. After all, waste not-want not.
Ok...I really have to get off of this computer. I'm setting up a room with shelving for my cake books and supplies and I'm SUPPOSED to be baking a chocolate caramel cheesecake.
the bride didn't get charged extra for the extra protein
No, there's no charge for the extra protein, but there's a 25 cent charge per serve for the calcium in the shell.
So, now, does this work like a king cake? The person who gets the egg shell has a year of good luck, and has to bring the cake to the next wedding?
Theresa
Um, not to be inflammatory but the only sure fire way to never, ever, never, ever ever get egg shell in cake is 1, leave out the egg (yuk) or use egg beaters.
Egg shells =never buy from a home baker? That makes no sense.
I agree. Even a bakery or restaurant can have eggshells.
Anyone else here think that our Miss Bundtdiva is upset that she wasn't asked to make the wedding cake?
BTW I see she hasn't posted any pic's of her infamous *bundts*
hehehehe, was thinking the same
But do you wipe off the cats' feet before they jump on the cake?
I make tiny little booties for my cat out of the hairnet gauze.
LOVE the visual I got on this!! Cat booties...how about wrapping the cat up in hairnet gauze...LOL!!
Not including the original post....I have never laughed so hard at a thread! LOVE IT. Thanks for all the laughs
recycle food? I learn something new everday. Few mins to LCS
I know....getting super excited!!! (About LCS, NOT recycled food!)
Mmm - good point about the neighbour and weigh - maybe there's a bit more to the rule which says 'except if making an 'ay' sound too'? I think wierd comes under the i and e making an 'e' sound so to me, I think that works with the rule. You know, I've been using that rule for years and have never spelt neighbour or weigh wrong - it never occured to me that it didn't fit the rule!! You learn something new every day!

Can't you just saran wrap kitty? That way you don't have to go makin those darn booties everytime you make a cake.

You can, but you have to put a preemie diaper on kitty's butt, first.
Theresa
The entire i before e rhyme is:
"I" before "e" except after "c", or when sounded like "AY" as in "neighbor" or "weigh."
See, you learn something new every day, even though you were doing it right all along!

See this is why health codes are so annoying. Before you know it poor kitty looks like a sumo wrestler all because someone who might be "allergic" to cats doesn't want cat hair in their cake.
Theresa
Now I was all excited about sumo kitty that somehow I put my comment under Teresa's name! Very interesting..

I think the actual rule is, the English language doesn't make any sense, few rules apply, and you just have to memorize how to spell stuff!!

I think this is something like what I usually told the students when they asked me why why why during English class....or I told them that the word was probably borrowed or derived from another language.
Okay - so putting all the bits together, the entire rule must be:
i before e, except after c or when making an 'ee' or 'ay' sound.
Lot of exceptions, ay?!

hahaha, not sure if saran wrap is like cling wrap/plastic wrap? but i just got some weird visuals from the movie bad boy bubby where he wraps the cat up in cling wrap.......now that is one home kitchen you wouldn't want your cake to be baked in!!!!!!!!
Yes, sorry, sometimes we forget that there are people from other countries here. Saran wrap is plastic wrap, is cling wrap.
Theresa
mrsunknown, yes saran wrap is cling wrap...
I feel a responsibility here to say that you should most definitely NOT wrap up kittie's head.
Whoa! Short and curlies, long black hair, fingernails. Yuck! But at least we can think (hope??) they're there accidentally. Have you seen the Dominoes video about two idiots deliberately dirtying up the food???
I'm not naive; I've worked in hotel kitchens so I know what's going on. But this video make me never want to eat out again. I've never seen such disrespect.
(note: the original video was pulled so you can only see snippets from a newscast)
too many exceptions to remember. I like the idea of remembering how to spell the stuff....
the 'except for when making an ee sound' doesn't hold true when you throw in retrieve....unless the e at the in cancels that whole exception in which case that exception shouldn't be an exception at all....
eight(ay sound)
height (I sound)
so should it be i before e except after c except with making an ay, ee, or i sound?
I googled it and there were so many exceptions that the rule shouldn't even be considered a rule at all.
You guys are hilarious - this forum started so nasty and now it is about cats and English with some food bits stuck between! I love you all!
