I need to get some ideas for pricing when you cover your cakes in fondant. Do you charge more for the larger sizes? ie: 12 and 14 inch?

I already charge 2.00 a slice for BC icing cakes. I have an order for a large stacked fondant cake coming up and would like to know.

I buy my fondant since its hot here in CA and mmf tends to melt. (or so I've heard)

Hi, you live really close to me icon_smile.gif I charge $3 per serving for fondant cakes, and $3.50 per serving if they are going to be stacked. And then still more if they are going to have extra stuff, like elaborate piping or sugar flowers. And I'm sure where we live, I wonder what won't melt, or at least droop with the weather the way it was been this week, lol. I have been making the Michele Foster fondant, and haven't had any problems with it yet. Really cheap to make, and tasty. I like it way better than the MMF.

Yes we do live close! That sounds good 3.00 a slice. How much of the Michele Foster fondant does it make at one time? Can I cover a 14" round with one batch?

Did you mean that it won't melt in the heat? This is for an outdoor party on June 6th.

Thanks for your reply!
PS: your cakes are awesome!

My friend and I just covered a 10" and a 6" and still had a substantial amount left over-enough for an 8" probably. It makes quite a bit. We made the cake (not to be eaten, per bride to be's request) a few days ahead of time, so the fondant was quite firm and did not melt last Saturday, and it was pretty hot.
Thanx for the compliment! icon_smile.gif

Yes it was quite hot. Was the wedding where you live? That was REALLY hot. It was 100 here in Corona. I'm going to make a batch MFF this next week and play around with it. I need to make some gumpaste decorations anyway.

Hi Mareg, I am in Corona too. The heat here is a problem for cakes isn't it!
