Friends are getting married in CT, asked me to do the cake, I live in Florida. We are driving and making it a two week trip to see other areas. The wedding will be first, getting there 2 days early to "finish" cake. I would like to bake them before I leave, any clues on the best way to travel with "baked" cakes? I've read about using dry ice. Just would like more suggestions on this adventure.

Thanks so much!

Sounds like a great adventure & very nice of you to do. I've never done this so I don't have any advice other than the dry ice thing sounds good & freeze them ahead of time.
Here's a bump & hope you get some advice from the pros.
Good Luck!

Hi Connie,
I have traveled with cake many, many times. I bake my cakes and wrap very well and freeze them. I then put them back in the cake pans so they keep their shape. I have a foldable, flexible cooler and I pack it with ice packs and the cakes. We drove from NY to FL and never had a problem. I always take my frosting and decorations. It's surprisingly easy to finish. Good luck and have fun.
