Like Joanne, I was inspired by this thread to try decorating a cake with cookies. While the end result isn't as impressive as those posted here, I was pretty happy with the cake. Most importantly, my niece was thrilled with her college graduation cake!

Ok...WOW Gemini and kenadacookie, those cakes are GREAT!! After this thread, I think this is what I'm going to to do for my son's 1st b-day cake. The party decor has cupcakes and teddybears, and I have those cutters...(must be fate)! I do have one question.....How do you get the cookies to stick to the side of the cake when there is only a cake board underneath? Do you just put a drop of butter cream on the back? Any tips would be greatly apprecieated. icon_biggrin.gif

The buttercream I use doesn't crust, so it was very easy to just gently push the cookie onto the cake. For crusting BC, I'd put a dab of icing on the back of the cookie and press onto the cake. The drink cookies I used were tall enough that they just tilted slightly toward the cake.

I've been constantly checking your photos, anxiously waiting to see your cake! I'm thrilled for you that it made it to Chicago. I had no doubts that it would be a hit...you do fantastic work!

P.S. - Did you notice my niece's name? JoAnne. It's almost like Twilight Zone for us concerning these cakes!
