Web-site showing cookies on cakes??

Hi Ladies! I was telling my daughter (a budding little baker) about a web-site I saw a while ago that was really cute where someone makes cakes and decorates them with cookies. Does that ring a bell with anyone? I just wanted to show it to her if anyone knows of it. Oh, it wasn't Nancy's work. That is in the stratosphere and I am just trying to show my daughter how to do simple cookies and put them on cakes and how cute they were on that site. Thanks if you know the site!

this is the only pic i've come across where cookies are used to decorate a cake ( i only remember it because of the elephants icon_smile.gif ) its probably not the one you're looking for tho

Thanks, Tujy, I will show that cute pic to her, but it was an actual website. Thanks, Kneadacookie! It is always fun to see Nancy's work. The other gal was working on a simpler scale. It drives me nuts when I can't find a site I loved once upon a time. icon_lol.gif

Bing, bing, bing! party.gif You did it, Helen! That is the one! thumbs_up.gif I have been trying to find that for some time. I just showed it to my daughter and she is SO excited! "Those are just ADORABLE!!!", as she put it. She wants to learn how to do cakes and, as a cookier, I have no clue. As a self-professed future cake decorator, she surfs here on CC and then wants me icon_lol.gif to teach how to do some of the cakes she sees. Ummm... I... don't... do... cakes. I tried years and years ago - disaster when DH opted to disassemble and redo it 15 min. before the pack of 3 year olds arrived. My cake confidence was shot, DH does them all now and they are actually pretty funny.

However, my daughter still desperately wants me to teach her to do cakes. I thought maybe, just maybe, I could learn how to do a simple fondant covered cake and put cookies around/on it as, hey, at least I can do cookies. I was trying to describe with limited results it as she looked at me a bit forlornly, and now being able to show her has pulled it all together. After seeing this site, she has faith in me once more! (I'll grab it while I can!)

wow!!!! I love those sites, thank you so much! I too am not so great at the cake end of decorating. I was trying to come up with a nice, yet easy enough, design for my son's first birthday. The theme is cupcakes. So......I will use my cupcake cookie cutter!!! Yay!!! I now have a design brewing in my head!!!!!

Those cakes are adorable! The cookies are beautiful! But by the time I made the cakes and the icings and fillings, stacked and iced the cakes; made the cookie dough and icings; rolled, cut out and baked the cookies; iced the cookies; THEN put the cookies on the cake, I would have forgotten why I made the cake in the first place.
But it's on my "someday" to-do list!

Cutthecake - You are SO right! Geez - it takes me forever to do my cookies. I can't imagine trying to do a cake too! icon_lol.gif But, as this is a 'Mommy/Daughter' project, we will work together and do the best we can! This idea would be fun to do professionally if you had more than one person though! (or worked a lot faster than I do! icon_lol.gif ).

would anyone happen to know how they stick the cookies to the cake? i figure they put sticks into the cookies that go on the top, but is the buttercream strong enough to hold the ones on the side (especially if they aren't touching the base of the cake)?

If you put the cookies on while the buttercream is still soft, they stick really well. If the cake is already cold, just add a dollop to the back of the cookie and "glue" it onto the cake.

I saw their website and made a jungle cake that way a few years ago, although I wasn't brave enough to have my cookies "floating" on the sides. I thought they might be too heavy and would drag down the sides as the icing came to room temp, so I rested their edges on the cake tier or cake board beneath them....
